Five teams show interest in Paul Soliai

No, the Dolphins have not yet made a contract offer to retain pending free agent defensive tackle Paul Soliai, as The Herald first reported this morning. Neither have any other teams, according to league sources.

But here's the deal:

Five teams have shown interest in Soliai in recent days. And at least two of those teams are quite serious about adding Soliai once free agency begins March 11, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Those teams made their interest known during the Indianapolis Combine.

(Peanut gallery: But Mando, that's tampering.)

Oh, gallery how naive you are. While it is technically tampering, it would never be investigated because every team is spending time at the Combine talking to agents and asking those agents about their clients' mindset and general parameters to gauge the cost of signing those clients. And everyone is doing that.

And Soliai, a run-stuffing defensive tackle who has played both in the 3-4 and 4-3, is drawing as much interest as anyone.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are taking a lukewarm approach to retaining Soliai -- and, frankly, many of their pending free agents. The Dolphins do not appear moved by the idea of their free agents hitting the market.

That includes Soliai, Randy Starks, Brent Grimes, Nolan Carroll, John Jerry and others. Indeed, some of those players will almost definitely not be returning to the Dolphins.

Although no contracts can be negotiated now, teams will be able to begin talking to free agents before free agency begins. The negotiation window opens March 8. Although no contract can be signed before March 11, several players will have deals in place before then because of the open negotiation window.

Look everyone, this is the real Marco, he finally admits what we all knew... TROLL...

Steve Ross, worst DOlphin owner ever?

Amazing how we get the inner thoughts of the troubled when they pose as others. Come on Bill thats it tell us more about your mother ?

See what a few posts on Thill do to some people. One thing we can always count on is Bill A stating he will leave only to return as a Troll.

Big dumb Bill A. Europe is it Bill.... ? Really, all from the money you earned at the mall, good for you mate, cheers !!!

Bill Arnparger, board MORON

David Bon Bon,

Apart of your opinion being facetious and frivolous. Your flippant remarks are asinine and egregious.

And Mr. Bon Bon. The way you say it is.... Bonds. James Bonds.

Not.

Last Name, First name Middle name.

Get it. You halfwit ignoramus.

"We all know deep down that Tannehill is a backup at best."

Oooh, that looks like a fun game!

"We all know deep down that dog meat tastes like chicken."

"We all know deep down that drinking and driving is perfectly safe."

"We all know deep down that 2 + 2 = 5."

"We all know deep down that conclusory assertions in blog comments are a good use of everyone's time."

Marco makes his own male sex dolls.

Reason he does?

Because the holes on the regular ones are to BIG. Even the ones Made in China.

Bond you are kidding our RB's are not good enough. Thomas has to get cut, keep Miller as the change of pace back up to a power house back and Gilli is still an unknown prospect, like the rest of last years draft class. Get them on the field DawnJoe, another WTF moment from Cue Card CueBall.

Marco likes little boys because their booty hole isn't properly developed yet.

Miller is a bust

Bill, really ? We find out more about you per post, keep it coming. You still hating on Thill these days ?

It isn't Bill you pathetic loser.

The truth hurts. Like when your uncle ass raped you when you were little.

How many stitches was it again? 10? 15?

I heard you couldn't fart for a month.

Most guitar players out there know what a powersoak is, my brain feels like this blog is a powersoak for my IQ sometimes.

I wish Mando would delete all posts that target other posters, of course that would eliminate about 85% of the chatter here, but at least that would improve the level of intelligence.

I praise all who ignore the trash and speak football.

I appreciate all that Soliai has done for this team and I would love to see him retire as a Phin, he is a class act, plays hurt, and doesn't make headlines at 4AM on SoBe.

As for Starks, don't let the door hit you on the a$$ on the way out. I could care less how good of a player he is, the guy is a cancer in the locker room and on the sidelines. Doesn't matter that he is younger than PS, he can't carry Paul's dirty cup.

Draft a DT or sign one of the FA's to replace him and save some cap space for someone who WANTS to be a Phin!! I like the idea of moving Odrik inside in place of Starks especially on passing downs.

I think it would be a huge mistake NOT to sign Grimes to a 3 or 4 year deal. He proved it on the field, he was our best DB bar none. As for the rookie CB's from last year, this year they better bring it or find work selling insurance.

Haven't had time to pay attention to the combine, unlike a lot here, I actually have to work, and have a life outside of Armando's blog, as you can see I only post once or twice a week if that.

Would like to see a big-body RB to help with short yardage though, I hear there are a few in FA this year.

Well gotta go play some death metal axe, see ya'll.

Keep them cheeks tight, Marco.

I don't even want to hear Psst!! Coming out of you.

Ross is a cheap SOB

I guess the truth does hurt.

Typical Marco Sam behavior. He runs and hides and will show up later under a different name, when he is the one getting ass raped.

Homies; you got it all wrong; and when I say that our offensive line was above average in ability, you are going to think that I am that guy you saw falling off the back of a turnip truck. If you recall, when Moore or Devlin came into the game; all of a sudden, every aspect of our offense fell into place. Say what you want too. I say, go back and look at the tapes. If we demote Tannehill, everything will be fine on offense and defense. You see, the defense gave Tannehill 4 possession to score points in those last two games. I believe that, that is fair. When you do nothing with the ball in 3 or 4 tries, most defenses regress because, what's the use?

Not sure why Grimes isn't signed already. tag Soliai.

run the 3/4 :keep Soliai
run the 4/3 :keep Starks

Grimes must come back on a 3 year deal; the rest can go.

ABSOLUTELY GET DION JORDON INVOLVED THIS YEAR. TRADE CAM WAKE FOR A FIRST ROUND PICK TO HELP REBUILD THE O-LINE.

Soliai and Starks no longer fit the scheme.

Posted by: Dashi | February 24, 2014 at 04:11 PM

How stupid is this comment? Soliai is a monster plenty of teams would grab in an instant.

Sorry guys for taking such a pounding the last couple of days. I've just hit another rough patch in my life. Hopefully, I will be able to show some growth after this.

What is Big and Brown and Round All Around?

Me, Of course.

Grimes says he's opimistic that he'b back in Miami next year.

Dashi, M. Bryant will go 2nd round unless someone at the end of the first takes a shot. I kind of doubt a team will though for the reasons you mentioned. I am afraid it will be early 2nd round though and the Fins may not have a shot and may look at a different position.

After watching Benjamin I came away thinking he may slip to the 2nd round and he may end up falling to Miami in the 2nd. The things I do not question about him his being a red zone threat. He's huge and can jump and has decent enough hands to make big plays.

miami doesnt need benjamin

x

Did someone say trade Wake and get a 1st round pick for him? Why does everyone think we can jettison great talent and replace it cheaper in the draft.

IT NEVER WORKS!

Marco...I was thinking about the big, brown all around turd I just dropped in the toilet

No one said need BUT now I am saying it. Miami needs another WR and tall and fast would help a whole lot in the red zone. My personal favorite is M. Bryant. That is after S. Watkins but I know that is next to impossible to get him.

I also like Evans but IMO after his combine he won't make it to 19.

Well it looks like we are on a three year rebuild at least

Do you people realize how long it takes to rebuild an offensive line at one time in a year I have never seen a team with worse planning in my life

Hoping they sign Soliai - he's an excellent run stuffer who gets alot of double teams freeing up the other DLs. If not him, then Starks needs to be resigned. If both are let to walk...

No offense this year we are screwed

Posted by: NHFINSFAN | February 24, 2014 at 06:34 PM

Great, did it have Philbins face and drop jaw ?

Zero offense this year folks

Very very bad

Our team should play in Chernobyl because we are radioactive

The Chernobyl dolphins 2014

We eat people

Zero offense this year folks

Posted by: Marc from nj | February 24, 2014 at 06:45 PM

Not correct - We'll be going backwards next year for negative yards which is less than zero.

Solvent Green I believe.

Among the five teams interested in Soliai one shold be the Pats and other the Jets.

The Pats doesn't have cap space, But the Jets do.
I hope that we can retain Solai

Look at this guy, Jadeveon at 6'5", 270 lbs running a 4.47. Nah, Jade, don't worry, we know you don't like to practice, all we ask of you is that you make some big plays on Sundays.

Nobody talking about Jake Matthews. Perhaps he will fall to Us. hehehe

definitely Grimes……Starks or Soliai, but not the end of the world if we re-sign neither--but that means drafting a starting caliber DT

grimes probaly only guy who will be back and thats with franchise tag. this is gonna be a really really bad football team next year, we need to be patient and allow this year to rid us of awful philbin. then 2015 we can start to turn things around

Nobody talking about Jake Matthews. Perhaps he will fall to Us. hehehe

For me it is very possible given the laws of supply and demand.

Many high quality tackles, then them will begin to be chosen later on the first day because, after all, many teams can choose one quality tackle in the second round.

Grimes says he's opimistic that he'b back in Miami next year.

-------------------------------------------

I agree with everything you just said Texas.

I also couldn't believe how well M.Bryant performed at the combine. He is a lot stronger than I thought. He should be a first round lock after that combine performance.

I actually liked K.Benjamin over M.Bryant, because I thought Benjamin was Athletically Superior. But not much difference. And M.Bryant is faster and a better route runner than Benjamin.

Adrian Solorzano apparently has an alteration in thought form.hehehe

Grimes and Starks for my $$$. Let the rest walk.

How about Zach Martin, Dashi? You still going to pick him if he's there at#19. We told you over and over, before the Combine, that he was nothing special at #19. Yes.

Adrian Solorzano apparently has an alteration in thought form.hehehe

I'm not used to speak English :) and at this hour, I am already a bit tired from work

Sure hope they move Jones to FS, we need a physical SS.

We want a special Player at #19, an immediate starter an impact Player for a change.

The only thing falling to us is seagull poop

We need a starting left tackle oscar

We also need 2 guards and a right tackle

We should be good at corner and safety we drafted 3 of them last year

Let em all walk. seriously. our defense sucked. see ya, thanks for all the 7-9, 8-8 years.
