Jonathan Martin traded to San Francisco

The nightmare is over -- for all parties involved.

Following through on owner Stephen Ross' words that neither Jonathan Martin nor Richie Incognito would return to the Dolphins after the 2013 harassment scandal, the Dolphins confirm they have agreed to trade Martin to the San Francisco 49ers.

Martin thus rejoins former Stanford coach and current San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh in the Bay Area.

Terms of the trade were not immediately available. But it is likely for a low-round pick. ESPN was the first to report this story.

The Dolphins invested a second round pick on Martin in 2012.

In 2013, Martin imploded.

Plagued by depression and self-esteem issues, and tormented by poor treatment from Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, Martin admits in the Wells Report he felt suicidal in May 2013.

In late October he left the Dolphins in the middle of the season.

Now he's left the Dolphins for good.

Martin's reaction?

"Big news," he tweeted moments ago. "Opportunities are few in the NFL. Can't wait to get to work."

He added the hashtag: 9ersempire.

The Dolphins will carry $959,734 in dead money against their cap for the Martin trade.

"Albert relinquished just four sacks in 555 pass rushing chances last season, which is exceptional, and allowed the fewest quarterback hurries (13) of any tackle who played nearly that much. Over the past three years, he has consistently ranked in the top 12 among all tackles in pass blocking."

I'll take it..

Tommorow's the day we get Strief/Howard or Oher for the o-line and Revis Key to make our pass D fierce! (Throw on that Brady)

Those two moves allows us to do whatever we want in the draft since u would only need 2 guards (maybe just one), a DT for the rotation, an ILB and a power back in BPA order.

Go get em Trickey Hickey!

Johnathan Martin will be considered a hero for being instrumental in cleaning up the sports workplace from racism, harrassment, and discrimination. Minorities for decades will have Martin to thank.

I'll take it..

Jake Long was consistently top 3.

NEXT COMES THE J MARTIN LAWSUIT!!

I WISH MY BRO JMART THE BEST, BUT THAT TEAM IS FULL OF PANTY WIPES AND HE WILL FIT RIGHT IN WITH THEM.

I WILL DOOO DOOO DOWN YOUR THROAT n)*)(*)(*ER AND THEN I WILL EAT YOUR MAN MILK.

U KNOW I STILL LOVE YOU MAN!

No he wasn't, just saying.

U ALL ARE SUCH FAKE MODELS !!!

Byrd is a fine player but maaaaan.....that's a lot of dough for a Safety. Good for him though.

Who's the idiot that called J Martin a revolutionary?
Who's the idiot who called blacks a minority in football?

F4L,

I have a feeling that the top 4 OL will be gone by 19 due to there being so much need by a whole lot of teams that pick before us. Rams will take either Robinson or Matthews. Raiders need a LT, Atlanta needs a LT, Tampa needs OL, Buffalo, NYG, Pitt and Baltimore could use Martin.

So there are 8 teams that have a decent need for OL and 4 1st round worthy OL. 5 teams will need to pass on that talent and I don't see that happening.

I did not think this was possible, sweet one Hickey. It doesn't matter to me if all he got was a bag of mop heads , it was a good trade. Let him go to SF where there are a lot of people like him, he will be comfortable.

Somehow, Jon got back to his People from Stanford. Good luck, Jon, and thank you. We understand you did not belong here.

Long wasn't avail..

Whatever pick Miami gets is the lesser element here. This wipes out his 2nd round rookie contract without a cap hit.

Hickey on FIRE.

Things are moving fast.

are you serious Shula, re: Pouncey?--ok, he's a thug…..like half the league!--repeat after me……many/most NFL players are degenerate, aggressive, violent dudes that aren't like you and I…..if they were, they couldnt play this insane game, where the hits/brutality/violence is so off the charts, you and I can even imagine it---THATS who plays this game (and we love it)--but please, enough with getting rid of Pouncey…..plenty of guys who you'd bring in to replace him would be just as bad

Martin is now back with his old coach and on a championship caliper team. Cogs is in a mental ward. .... AND WHO IS THE THE VICTIM ????

Good by you P.O.S Thanks

Jake Long is on crutches….classic line today from Charlie Casserly.

BTW…The Pats didn't sign a big named FA today. They are Doomed!!

Byrd signing weakens Buffalo D which was abusive last year. Especially against us. He was part of a good young nucleus along with fellow O-Duck Kiko Alonso.

Is anyone surprised that Incognito's nuts?

Mitchell: At 26, he’s four younger than Starks and Soliai. He was highly coveted. ESPN’s Bill Polian ranks him as the fifth-best free agent at any position in the entire class. He has pass rush potential; PFF insists he had four sacks last season (NFL.com credits him with only 1.5) and ranked him 26th of 69 tackles as a pass rusher.
ESPN’s Scouts Inc. says Mitchell “has become a real inside force and one of the most productive penetrators in the NFL at generating consistent inside pressure. He is a much better athlete than most guys who play his position, and his effort is outstanding. He is a one-gap penetrator with good quickness and really works to finish the play. He is young and will only get better."

s this why we couldn't do more than sign one lineman and downgrade our d line and secondary so far this off season?

Too worried about prying a 7th round pick from the 9ers?

No need to find a top guard or RT???

I have seen some good posts from you, but I don't know what you would have expected from the Phins in FA.

If Albert can stay on the field, I think he is good. Otherwise, well duh, he is useless. Mitchell fits the 4-3 mold more than what we had; and if Delmas plays he looks good also.

What were you expecting or hoping for out of FA?

San Fran had to send a car to get him. He is afraid to go to the airport...... Not becauce he is afraid of flying. Becauce he is scared when he go's through the ex-ray at security. They will see that he has no testicles.

Out of the teams you mention here alot could happen. The Rams (IMO) playing in the NFC West watching what the front-7's in S.F. and Seattle do will take Clowney to add to there rotation fazing out C.Long whose serviceable but not top flight. Clowney bookended with Quinn is faaar more imposing in a Div. were they win it up front. Atlanta and Buff. may yet take the LB's (Mosely, Mack or even Barr) If Manziel slides to their pick can see the Bucs taking him. The Raiders are supposedly in love with S.Watkins. The Jets IMO will take the BA WR which they need desperately while thwe Steelers could use an ILB or Safety as much as anything else. All conjecture but can see this scenario playing out as well as anything else.

Good riddance... hope I never hear your name again...

49ers have 2 second round and 2 third round picks so they could have given up a 4th or 5th for Martin without blinking an eye.

so the Browns are getting older (or not younger at the very least)…..swapping out their own good/solid players for others…..still have no QB…..have they really improved?--and this is Farmer's work, huh?…….hhmmm

Benz,

I was thinking the same thing about the Browns and feeling lucky we did not sign Farmer.

Booyah Hickey

Of course SF will look like geniuses and martyrs. I'm just glad fins got SOMETHING!

Isthis a 2015 pick?

Talib officially out of New England. I am liking the none moves and players moving out of NE.

Glad we played browns last year!

Alot about Mitchell reminds me of the Randy Starks we took on the rise from Tenn. were he played inside with Albert Haynsworth and didn't get much of the credit with alot of the "SUPPOSED" experts claiming his success was due to Haynsworth's inside presence commanding the double teams leaving him one on one. I see a player by the way that just like Starks could play DE in the 3/4 making him a flexible commodity to have

Talib signs with Denver and Schefter is saying the Pats ill now try and make a push for Revis. UGH

The pick is undisclosed 2014.

We do not need a LT in the draft. So, who cares if the top 4 LT's are gone by our 19TH pick.

We're in better position. We can draft BPA @ #19, take an olineman 2nd rd. A guardg or a RT.

He was a weiner, but then, so is everyone else on the team.

What were you expecting or hoping for out of FA?

Posted by: Coltrane | March 11, 2014 at 11:10 PM

Agreed again! My only concern with Albert is that his injury is a nagging lower back problem which is worse than having bad knees for an OL. Delmas does bring alot of ?'s as well with injury and suspect were drafting a Safety around the 4th at the latest.

Delmas however made more sense unless your going to keep R.Jones out of position at S.S. With him Jones goes back to F.S. were he excelled in 2012 before the sub-par play of Clemmons forced the move. As we all know the S.S. plays/cheats closer to the line on underneath routes and in run support and that wasn't Jones game.

I believe while not Jarius Byrd we do have a solid F.S. already we committed big money to last Yr. and what we need is a S.S. which we've lacked since Y.Bell got old.

Ugly start of FA for the dolphins so far...but teams are just crazy idiots spending money the dont have.. i see more high price players cut to level off the spending binge...

UPDATE 11:12 p.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Dolphins will receive a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015, if Martin is on the 49ers’ opening-day roster.

Nobody knows how the domino's fall on draft day but feel were taking a player to play RT today and eventually replace Albert on the left. I have no issue with BA if the Tackles are gone and then would look at a player like NC's James Hurst in Rd-2 who reminds me of S.Vollmer.

sorry that's WIENER lol

San Francisco will just LOVE J. Martin.....

Great Dolphin fans will not have to watch him fall down while attempting to pass block a defensive player.

@ fin4life - Absolutely Starks in the 3/4 more versatility but who do you put at other end?
For me if I was either coach, gm, owner, water boy I don't want a guy who flips the bird at his own bench to get away with it. What signal would that send to rest of players..jmo

F4L,

Clowney would be my pick at 2 for the Rams also if he were there. In my humble opinion Clowney will go number #1 to Houston. I know they are in need of a QB but I don't see a for sure QB (an Andrew Luck) in this draft. So to me it makes more since to not take a chance on losing out on a player of Clowney's caliber.

I think Mosely drops but Mack is top 10 easy and Barr I would say top 15. I also see Manziel slipping out of the top 20 and possibly into the early 2nd.

Yeah it is all speculation and could go any way. And don't get me wrong, I would love to get either Lewan or Z. Martin.

Seriously did anybody believe we'd have a team giving up anything in even the 4th Rd level for this kid? A supremely weak player susceptible to the bull rush. In just 22 NFL starts J.Martin had more embarrassing moments of being thrown into the backfield (sometimes right on top of his QB) than players who start have for a career. The only thing he did well was he had enough ability to close off the inside move.

@fin4life - apologies. Misread ur post. Yes I agree wholeheartedly. Tired off to bed zzz

Armando's tweet is a good one...
Afc east... No cromarie, Byrd, Talib.
Nice

Pick is 7th only if he makes roster. It will bea 2015

WE ARE 2 YEARS AWAY TO BUILDING A CONSISTENT PLAYOFF TEAM, FOLKS.

WE WERE NOT GOING TO ACCOMPLISH 2 YEARS OF REBUILDING IN A SINGLE OFFSEASON. WTF?

Wonder if the Dolphins got a release from Martin. Otherwise they should have done a little better for s second rounder, even Martin.

I called this one long ago--I told you so---Martin's game-plan all along. To get back home to mommy and the West Coast. The cowardly Dolphins can't even stomach admitting they may get a 7th round pick in trade if Martin doesn't go AWOL again!--What a waste! Let the over-hyped 9ers have him.

Just went to the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE and not a word about the trade. WTHHHH

I was hopeful F4L. There were 3 teams reportedly after Martin.

Yeah it is all speculation and could go any way. And don't get me wrong, I would love to get either Lewan or Z. Martin.

Posted by: Texas_Dolfan | March 11, 2014 at 11:33 PM

Like we've both posted, could go either way and yes Clowney might yet be the #1 overall but with Houston cutting Shaub they need a QB. I don't believe they take Manziel here but Bortles might yet be in play.

Would be cool if the 49ers signed Richie too!

The Colts wanted Martin also.

Can someone explain to me why we paid so much more money for Albert than the Ravens paid for Monroe? Monroe is younger and a better athlete. I just don't understand why the Dolphins seem to overpay. Ozzie Newsome is either really good or we are really bad.

who cares if Revis goes to the Pats….the Pats go as Brady goes…..and hey, we do have to face a few good players occasionally, no?

If Jonathan Martin fails in San Francisco he should be put on suicide watch.....

When Jonathan Martin walks up to the pearly gates in heaven. He had better pray Jackie Robinson isn't holding the keys. :)
