And Delmas injury history plays perfectly into D.Jones seeing playing time during the season.

D.Jones has talent, he just needs to be developed, D.Jones is Raw. And one thing Coyle can do is coach the secondary. I expect D.Jones to have a better understanding this year of what to do on the field.

If Coyle can have Finny playing to the level he use to play and Grimes on the other side playing at his level. We will have the 2 feistiest CBs in the NFL. Opposing WRs know they are going to be in a street fight for 60 Minutes, it doesn't matter which side they line up. You will get hit.

Plus, Grimes and Finnegan are Great Tacklers for CBs. They love to hit people which is Rare in a CB.

And with D.Jones making people hear footsteps like he did in that Bengals game. He hit Sanu so hard early that in the 4th qtr he dropped two easy passes because Jones was closing in.

But even the trolls must admit that firing Ireland is a plus factor.

...So this is interesting. Greg Cosell gave his take on some of the line prospects in this draft. Now this is one mans opinion, you can take it or leave it. He does watch real tape for a living. So while he could be wrong about his judgements. I trust what he says about what the tape says. Interesting..

He says that Jake Matthews is the most ready to play lineman in the draft. He is probably most likely to be a long term starter-Pro Bowl tackle.

Lewan he did not have kind words for. Lack of power, lack of lateral quickness. He really thinks he will struggle in pass protection. And thinks he needs to develop better technique at the point of attack. Watch him and I think I know what he means. Lewan short arms guys. Better players get into his body too easy. Can this be coached up?

Greg Robinson...Again. Cosell says this guy is a tremendously talented player. But is nowhere near ready to be a starting LT in this league. He says his technique is poor. Will have a struggle in pass protection until he can tighten up his fundamentals.

The 2 players that he really liked were both guards. The kid from UCLA. A pick and plug day 1 starter. Tremendously strong, agile for his size. Would be a great fit in a zone scheme. The other guard was Yankey from Stanford. Cosell says that he is similar to the UCLA guard. Perhaps a better run blocker.

So take what you will. I will find the link and post it so you can read it yourself..

odin,

You know my love of the Dolphins is such that I watch NCAA Ball and enjoy it but by the same token am always watching the kids at Positions we need on our team. I find myself at this point doing this unconsiencely were my attention will waver to a specific player instead of following the play on occasion. That said I was real impressed with Ohio's OL and Hyde even if some on here say he's overated.

By the same token I saw alot Tex A&M ball which was fun because the D was so bad that Manziel had to carry them and show what he had. I for one get that his running might get him killed in the NFL but love the way he feels the backside pressure and espcapes alot of sacks.

The Big problem is the guy giving up the backside pressure was Jake Matthews who you know moved to LT because Joekel was gone and I saw a player who was a solid RT but IFFY LT and most overhyped LT in this draft. I believe Bruce's boy will be a good RT when it gets figured out and could probably play inside in POWER scheme but he's no LT at next level and you'll see!

We get Lewan or Robinson and the Fins will be set for a playoff run this season.

Raiders seem to be in a trading move. And we did good last year.

But it is going to take a lot to move up into the Top 5.

But our only priority right now is get a Starting RT. And Hopefully a real good one.

Guys like Lewan and Robinson are guys that are even worth trading a future first round pick for. It would be in the mid to late 20s with one of these two on the team.

Don't know if you've seen this, but I thought it was a pretty good clip. It's 10 plus minutes of Taylor Lewan against Jadeveon Clowney.

I could live with us landing either one of these guys.

Now, if we could just get a new QB, HC, and owner! haha

Last years draft was one of the weakest I have ever seen in my life. Whenever you have 3 of the Top 4 picks being Offensive Tackles, and two of them being Right Tackles. That makes for a Weak Draft.

http://www.rams-news.com/greg-cosell-talks-offensive-line-for-the-draft-radio-interview/

Here is the link..It is about 20 minutes. Good stuff I don't know if this will play or not, you might have to search the NFL Radio archive..But I heard it drving, and thought I would share.

You know I keep forgetting all about D.Jons who was a draft athlete more than player because of raw skill. HAe was DAMN impressive on ST's making sme huge plays. We'll see if he can develope but the athletic skills are there for sure. I wonder if this Yr. with our bump-n-run Mighty mouses if Coyle will still play against there game and go with so many 10 Yd. cushions in zone? I've NEVER liked Finnegan and enjoyed watching Andre Johnson clean his clock but I will warm up to him if he plays like he did in 2010-11 for Tenn.

..Yes. When you can trade up from 12 to 3 and only give up a second round pick..Something is up. That had never happened before for a Non-quarterback

The Dullfin drafts are always a snoozefest.

Sorry for terrible grammer watching Heat Vs. Grizzlies while typing.

I don't know why Mewhort isn't ranked higher. It could be they think it is the system. Or that OSU rarely passed the ball. But the Guy is a Beast. He is the C.Hyde highlight Reel.

C.Hyde is D.Thomas 2.0. And I would even say D.Thomas is better and runs harder. The Lanes C.Hyde was running thru were so big that he can dance while running thru them and nobody will touch him.

Someday will get up there during the Yr. to catch a game, Bro!

That would be great man, you'll always be welcome here!

In the day and age of the internet, I don't get anymore info than anyone else. All the things I hear about Mewhort are great. Urban Meyer's thinks he can be a great NFL Tackle(of course you wouldn't expect Coach to say otherwise).

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mewhort's stock soars right before the draft and he goes early 2nd round. Despite this draft being stocked with solid offensive lineman.

If he does last until the 3rd, I'd bet MONEY Hickey pulls the trigger.

Thank you will watch when HEAT game is over!

Darryl will watch your link as well just after the HEAT dispatch this team!

..fin4...It is from the radio. I heard it. I thought it was informative. I'm sure some will disagree. And that is ok. I was a bit surprised to hear Cosells take on Lewan.

Not necessarily not this Yr. were always caught talking Big-3 & 1/2 (Matthews,Lewan,Robinson) the half being Z.Martin (the consolation prize that Ozzie and the Ravens seems to like as do the Steelers) but there is a strong 2nd tier grouping this Yr. with both Tenn. Tackles (J.James, A.Richardson) followed by Bitonio, M.Moses and Kouandjio. A Big possibility he sits till Rd-3 were it never happens ast Yr.

Now I'm def. curious!

F4L,

Don't get me started with Coyle as a DC with his bad play calling and lack of playing certain players. As a DB coach he is top notch, it is as a DC that he gets me mad.

I hope that signing of the new LB coach Duffner, that Coyle does a better job. Duffner has over 38 years of experience coaching College and the Pro's. He is Coyle's mentor. He preaches Tackling!! He was the LB coach in Jacksonville for the last 8 years.

Hopefully Coyle improves this year.

On Don Jones. The Kid is a beast. All he needs to do is get the right coaching and the right opportunity. He was one of those guys that started to see the field at the end of last season. And with Delmas being an Injury risk and only signed to a 1-year deal, the opportunity should show up this season.

We would know how much confidence the Fins have in D.Jones if they don't address the safety position early or at all in the draft. Cause behind Delmas and R.Jones the only safety on the roster are D.Jones and Kovack. With J.Wilson and Miami Vice playing more NB/DB than Safety.

Wow! A game the HEAT have dominated on a back-to-back after losing another game to the Nets!

Dashi, don't say it I know I'm watching!

..But I heard it drving, and thought I would share.

Good to see you Darryl, nice post. I tend to agree with a lot of what Cosell said about Lewan. I believe Lewan can be a great RIGHT Tackle and maybe even a Left Tackle EVENTUALLY. But he's no Day 1 starter at Left Tackle like he's being touted. I feel sorry for whatever Team drafts him and expects to start on the Left right away.

Also, there's a good segment on the podcast at Miami Dolphins .Com. It's Cosell and he's talking with Cogemi(I think)and some other former Dolphins. It's pretty good stuff.

Dashi with zero NFL experience thinks he knows more than Coyle.

DD,

Agreed.

How do you go up from #12 to #3 and all you trade is a 2nd rd pick.

Never has that happened. Ireland pulled that off and nobody even clapped.

If Hickey can go from #19 to #9 this year and only trades a 2nd rd pick for it, people here would go crazy. They would be chanting M-V-P!! Like dumb heat fans!!

No Offense F4L, not talking about you. I am just tired of these bandwagon heat fans that don't worry about the team being great. They are happy with Good Job, Good Effort.

Coyle's little toe knows more about football that dashi will ever know.

LMAOROTFF! I haven't laughed like that in a while that's one funny F'n post!

Dashi = Last remaining Ireland fan on planet Earth

F4L,

It drives me crazy. The Heat are to talented to be so inconsistent in Year 4 of them being together and year 6 of Spo as Heat head coach.

What does this Spo do good?

Other than taking orders from Riley and letting his players and the refs run all over him!!

The Heat are way Better than what their Record Says.

I see the clown showed up.

See you guys later.

It was good while it lasted.

Man, I miss when the blog was like this.

What does this Spo do good?

Posted by: Dashi | April 09, 2014 at 10:36 PM

Back to back championships and the second longest winning streak in NBA history. Not good enough for you?

Dashi,

One of the things I find interesting about Jones is how inexperienced he is at Safety. He played running back in High School and his first year of college. In his second year he was moved to DB/Safety and even Linebacker.

Jones is very raw and obviously very talented. He will be a testament to how Miami's Coaching Staff develops players. With proper coaching Jones should be very good, very quickly.

BTW - He was named to the 2013 All Rookie Team as the Gunner(If you don't believe me, just ask Harry Douglas-Lol)!

Pancho shouldn't you be selling oranges and your mother flowers by the highway for my people.

May god bless you.

Maybe another huge idiot move like signing another kicker will be on the table. That worked out well for us lol

So take what you will. I will find the link and post it so you can read it yourself..

I understand that Howard Cossell's son does this for a living but I've been watching Football myself for over 35 Yrs. and trust what I see as well. I couldn't disagree more with Cossell on Matthews, I really wonder if he watched those games from last Yr. with him at LT or simply decided to plug the son of someone he watched from the Houston Oilers to Titans for nearly 2 decades?

I suggest you all google Tex A&M Vs. Bama, LSU and especially Auburn were the speed rush turned Matthews into a turnstile! Manziel was running from the backside pressure applied over Matthews all Season! Straight ahead on his man he's a mauler but can and will be had on speed moves which he'll see plenty of in NFL. I look at him and see a beast of a RT who could play inside in POWER GAME but I don't see an ELITE LT by any stretch with all due respect to Howard's Boy!

I saw Robinson by the same token Vs. Bama, A&M and of course FSU and he was clearly dominating allowing his inferior QB (who needed the extra sec.) time while flying down the field on alot of those runs showing great athletics. In Title game Vs. FSU he was so over powering it was ridiculous and they don't lose because of him! In Lewan I don't see the power Long had but I see a very nimble kid who with time can develope because he has the athletic ability. I could be deadly wrong but I'll believe my lying eyes till proven wrong up against Cossell's!

The Heat should be one of the Greatest Teams of All time!! That is what they were built for!! To Challenge Jordan, Magic, Bird, and the Spurs. For Greatest Dynasty of all time!!

They should have been gone 72-10!!

the Heat Roster Combined has earned almost $1B dollars off Basketball Alone!! They have the Players to have 2 Playoff Teams!!

I have had it with the nonsense you so called Heat fans spew!!

Spo Sucks!!

When LeBron is in a Coma because they spear him in Mid-Air and no foul gets called because Spo does nothing for his team!! Maybe then you to will realize Spo Sucks!!

The Heat aren't Physically tired. They are Mentally tired from dealing with Spo's incompetence. Spo better thank God that LeBron doesn't complain like all the other great players in history did when they see something wrong.

Do you think any of these Players will allow Spo as a Coach for more than 1 Season?

Jordan?

Wilt?

Bird?

Kareem?

O.Robinson?

Kobe?

Shaq?

I.Thomas?

And even non championship players.

Barkley?

R.Miller?

Iverson?

Malone?

None of those guys will accept the Incompetence from Spo.

Chris Anderson and Beasley didn't even play.

Coyle will be a leading candidate to replace Philbin when he is fired.

Odin,

Agreed.

I think me and you discussed this last year after the Draft. D.Jones is an "Acorn". He has all the tools to be Great. He just needs the right development. He hasn't played the position long, but he has great football instincts. And he picks up the position pretty quick.

He was an athlete that decided to choose Football over basketball when he realized that he wasn't going to be over 6ft, but he wanted to be a Pro Athlete. He is like B.Grimes in that sense. Supremely Gifted Athletes with Great Football instincts. Not saying that he will turn into B.Grimes. but just like Grimes was an UDFA and turned into one of the 5 best CBs in the Game. D.Jones has the Athletic Ability to one day be a Top 5 Safety in the NFL.

None of those guys will accept the Incompetence from Spo.

Posted by: Dashi | April 09, 2014 at 10:52 PM

This team was built to challenge 72-10 imortality! I agree have had it with this 2nd rater as well! Reminds of the idiots who thought we struck Gold with D.Erickson after 2nd Title in 91 not getting that the last of JJ's 5 Star recruits were gone after that Yr. Same with Coker after Butch! I wonder about those supposed practices he runs as well because the HEAT plays very undiciplined Basketball something not tolerated under Riley's over achievers who by the way had a few 60 plus gam winning Seasons of there own guess they were better?

Dooshy, tell us again how Spo isnt a HOFer? LOL

Preseason tickets should be free.

This team has too many holes to trade up. Especially for a LT after signing Albert to $20M guaranteed. We need all 3 of our 1st 3 picks this year.

Just too many holes to fill!

Like I've said, only player I would trade up for is Johnny Manziel, and that's only if he slides out of top 10.

Aug 28th Jake Long returns to Miami.

Not a one of here has any idea of Hickey's line of draft thinking. We didn't with Ireland and he was here 3yrs. I don't believe even Ireland had a consistent line of action in drafting from one year to the next.

6yrs

7 seasons, 8 years I think.

The Heat has been to three straight NBA Finals, won the past two, has the second longest winning streak in NBA history, and only a clueless fool would count them out from winning another title THIS year.

Yet, Spo is "horrible."

Jesus Christ. No wonder the rest of the country looks at Miami fans as a bunch of front-running imbeciles.

And you know what? They're right.

Dooshy doesnt like HOFers haha

Posted by: fin4life | April 09, 2014 at 11:02 PM

You guys got it all wrong. The primary problem lies in the Big 3 itself. D-Wade's knees are pretty much done. Chris Bosh isn't even a 20pt a night scorer.

Not too mention the HUGE CAP SPACE the Big 3 eat, making it virtually impossible to surround them with no more than cheap has been talent, or D-league level talent.

Folks, the Big 3 have pretty much shot their wad, and it has nothing to do with Eric Spoelstra. A new champion will be crowned this basketball season.

Next year, Wade and Bosh need to take huge paycuts or be shown the door. There's a huge chance we lose James too. The Big 3 has run its course in Miami.

F4L,

It is called Standards!!

When you have seen Greatness, anything less is Uncivilized.

I had higher expectations for LeBrons Career.

Exactly!! Great Coaches Make Their Teams Overachieve!!

Doesn't Matter how supremely talented his Roster!!

Even Better, he will be going after Records!!

You think Bill Belichick likes Losing?

All Great Coaches Hate Losing!! Doesn't matter if it is Practice!!

So do all Great Players Hate Losing!! Doesn't matter if it is against his own seed.

Erik Spoelstra is indifferent when the Heat Lose!!

Erik Spoelstra is indifferent to the Refs even when the other team is playing Football against LeBron and Wade.

Oh,and let's not forget!! Erik Spoelstra has ran D.Wade to the Ground!!

He should have been on a Maintenance Plan 3 Years Ago!!

The Heat have the Bench!!

I still don't understand Why James Jones isn't given at Least two 3-pointers a game!! Play him at least 5Min a game, given him 2 shots, if he makes both then let him shoota 3rd one!!

The only Shooter on the Heat better than James Jones is Ray Allen. And not by Much!! Ray Allen is a Better Player! But if Guys like Haslem, Battier, are getting a couple Shots a game. JJ deserves at Least 2 a Game. It would give the Heat at least an extra 7 pt a game. That is the difference in a lot of these losses.

The Heat need a 3rd or 4th shooter, Right now the only 2 Shooters the Heat have that plays consistent minutes is R.Allen and C.Bosh

I WROTE A NEW DOLPHINS FIGHT SONG!!

Joseph Robbie was a freedom rider
He didnt' care if the whole world looked.
Danny Thomas with the Lord to guide him
He was a brother who really cooked.

Larry Csonka was the first bra burner
And you're glad he showed up. (Oh yeah)
And when the franchise was falling apart
Donald Shula got it all sewed up.

And then there's Kiick.
And then there's Merc.
And then there's Nick.
And then there's Dan.
And then there's Paul.
And then there's Zach.
And then there's

That old compromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizing,
Right on Dolphins.

Dont count the Heat out. Sure, they've looked shaky lately but come playoffs you will see a renewed effort. They will look like a different team. They are experienced and know how to win. They cant get up for some of these regular season games. Big difference when the playoffs start. Watch.

dashi, standards are for people with life experience. You are still in the comic book phase of life, and maybe always will be.

E.Spoelstra is the "HEAD COACH" of the Miami Heat!!

He is the main one responsible for the Heat losing 2 of 4 NBA Titles.

Not LeBron!!

Not Wade!!

Not Bosh!!

Not Riley!!

Erik Spoelstra is the one that is to blame if the Heat Lose 2 out of 4 NBA Titles!! When They Had the Best Team On The Court All 4 Times!! And He also had the Greatest Player in The Game!!

What more do you want to give him?

Riley even gave him G.Oden!!

The Heat are not a great team. I don't see it. It isn't Spo's fault. They are not any of the Lakers or Celtic teams, they are not the Pistons or Rocktets of the past. They aren't even the old Jazz, Kings or Knicks. It is a miracle they have 2 rings. Credit to Spo.

Wade and Bosh won't have to take a paycut.

LEBRON IS LEAVING IF THE HEAT LOSE THE TITLE!!

Write that one down!!

You LowLives!!

Spoelstra, best young NBA coach ever?
