First rookie draft pick contract is done [Updated]

The Dolphins are in full rookie minicamp mode starting Friday when approximately 40 players (eight draft picks, 20 or so undrafted free agent signees and tryout players) take the field at the training facility in Davie, Fla.

And as part of that the team's contract negotiation department (mostly Dawn Aponte) is getting to work.

The Dolphins have just agreed to terms with linebacker Jordan Tripp on a four-year contract, according to a source. Tripp is a fifth-round pick.

The Dolphins are also negotiating with their other seven draft picks and could have deals with several more by the time camp begins Friday.

[4:30 Update: Fellow fifth-round pick Arthur Lynch is close to agreeing to his four-year deal, according to a source. So he should be signed perhaps as early as Friday.]

[5:11 Update: The Dolphins now announce they have signed Lynch.]

[Friday morning update: The Dolphins announced sixth-round receiver Matt Hazel was signed and confirmed the signing of Tripp.]

[Noon Friday update: Seventh-round draft pick Terrence Fede and the Dolphins have agreed to terms on a four-year deal.]

I heard Tony Sparano opened a pizza shop in Oakland and JaMarcus Russell is the lead delivery guy.

f4l, I remember watching that Alabama game and Manziel's introduciton to pop culture and they asked the colour guy (can't remember if it was Griese or Blackledge or whomever) and the guy said Manziel is Ty Detmer reincarnated....

Well there goes the inventory then!

I actually saw Purple drank on Ocean Dr. Blvd. about a month ago eating at Mango's and he's got to be pushing 350 these days.

wow, how does someone have so little respect for their own legacy to do that to themselves?

It as Blackledge and Vern Lundquist and he was waaaaaay off! Detmer in 90 knocked off the defending champ Hurricanes week-1 (I was watching also a Canes lifer!) and saw him in his signature game as well! That was the Yr. of the infamous Miami Cotton Bowl were Sports Illustrated ran the article of UM dropping Football. By the way the Longhorns and OT Stan Thomas started the issue by saying before the game that the Canes looked like a bunch of queers with there ear rings ect... Then when gae on got there panties handed to them! On the subject of Detmer he didn't use the run at all was a pocket passer. He had Marino's brain without the arm or size! His little Bro Koy was the runner and better NFL backup with Philly.

Manziel is a TD MACHINE! 94 TD'S IN 2 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!

I CAN CHEER EVERYBODY UP

Our OL today is worse than what we started 2013 with.

We upgraded LT but we downgraded LG, RG, RT.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all the Americans that post here

Be thankful for ur Home Freedom

Butt
not thankful that the Dolphoons reached and drafted a loser QB that only a goofy out of touch out towner fraud w a fake cyber superiority complex like office boy Mark stuck in Toronto would love

lol

Tannehill's fourth-quarter passer rating (64.3) ranked him 35th in the NFL last season, and his play in football's most important period was behind a few backups (Matt Flynn, Josh McCown, Matt Cassel, Thad Lewis, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kellen Clemens, Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden, Terrelle Pryor and Mike Glennon

Yes, folks Tannehill instead of Kuechly set the franchise back 5yrs in QB, LB and the team earning a winning season(s)

Home 4 GM

How's the good value kool aid from FA tasting right about now?

Brandon Marshall was really impressed with Miami:

Marshall: I don't think I'd be sitting in this position talking about an extension [if not for the trade to Chicago]. I probably wouldn't even be having the success that I was having on the field in that environment [in Miami]. It wasn't right for me. - Brandon Marshall

Trolls comments equal True comments

ETF, I can argue that the upgrade in LT alone upgraded the line.

However James will be very important here. Physcilly, he has some John Martin in him which is sacry. he's a bit more gifted but not much. bright side is that James and Luke Joeckel also have a lot of physical similarities. Matter of how good his football instincts are I guess. I feel fairly confident that he won't go home to cry to his mama. 47 straight starts in the SEC is tough business. And I think he will be better than Clabo. Still not sold on him as a first pick though - that's the part I can't get past.

The pass pro from the guards will be inferior but the run game will be improved. I think at least for the start of next year - it was a sideways move with the guards.

South Florida Most Well Known Miami Dolphin sports blogger - Home knows the Dolphins

and has Miami Dolphin Reel In Sight

On third down throws Tannehill has a 74.6 passer rating (24th best in NFL). He completed 59.1 percent of his passes on third downs, and threw nine touchdowns and eight interceptions on that critical down.

Home, I was preacher curling (of course with proper technique) the 100lbs barbell last night ... not bad.

Home knows . . .
In yards per attempt Tannehill's 37th in the NFL with 6.7 per throw

Home knows . . .
there are only 31 quarterbacks who threw more than 140 passes ranked higher than him....

ETF @ 11:35, you know that's a direct shot at Henne and Sparano, right?

I know why the reason Home hates Tannehill. Because at the end of practice one training camp day. Tannehill was signing autographs. Home was next in line. Tannehill took one look at homes and was like I might get aids by touching this guys pen. So tannehill rejected homes autograph. That's why homes hate him.

Home has the Reel Facts on Tannefail . . .

Tannehill threw 4.1% of his passes for touchdowns last season. Last season 19 starting quarterbacks had a higher percentage of their passes thrown for touchdowns

Tannehill threw 2.9% of his passes for interceptions last season. Twenty starting quarterbacks had a lower percentage than him

ROSS/DAWN/PHILBUM ALL TOLD HICKEY TO HIS FACE THAT HE

Would not even be brought back for a 2nd interview and he had 5 minutes to be off of the premises.

2 weeks later someone had to get on thier knees to get Hickey to take the job.

Home warned u that Tannehill for some reason throws INTs in groups of three, cannot close games and is usually "awful" in the 3rd & 4th Q

Fact is . . .

Only six quarterbacks threw more interceptions last season than Tannehill, who threw 17. Twelve of those interceptions occurred in losses. And the Dolphins lost every game Tannehill threw multiple interceptions - three vs Saints, two vs. Bills in game one of that AFC East division game, two vs. Patriots in game one of that series, and three in the season-finale vs Jets, which prevented the Dolphins from qualifying for the final AFC Wild-Card spot

No we don't need to sign that RT, he is asking too much and that is not good value

A couple of months later that thought destroyed our draft

So that koool aid, was it from hickey, aponte, failbin or the old fool......I have so little confidence in any of them that is hard to pick which was the idiot that actually came out with that idea

The sad part?, many homers drank it. How is the stomachache now homers?

MIT,

Marshall made the pro bowl and had > 1000 yds receiving when Henne was his QB.
I think he was referring to Moore.

Home is the God of Rell Miami Dolphins In Sight

ONLY 31 !!!

LOL

Correction, the one year Marshall and henne were together, marshall had the worst year of his career.

he made the pro bowl when henne was knocked out after game 4 or 5 in san diego and moore played most of the season and cost us Luck or RG3. If that idiot henne stayed upright, we'd be a perennial playoff team right now.

TELL ME WHICH 3 ARE BETTER THAN INCOGS/MARTIN/JERRY

Fox
Smith
Dallas
Garner
James
Injun

I saw Home at rookie minicamp wearing a "Hi I'm Home" sticker.
She's a petit 5'00" and was wearing a yellow dress.

Brndon Marshall was on his way to the HOF until he met Chad Henne LOL

Can't really argue with that point at 11:42. it would've been well within our best interests to spend on a RT just to add the best players available in the draft.

been saying the same here for months.

Instead we sit here with $17M in cap space and a mortgaged draft.

Sucks.

Home 4 GM drafted John Manz @ # 19 and stayed the course and got, "The Rock Of Gibraltar" RT Morgan Moses

Ur stuck w Tannefail and some idiot from Toronto w a fake cyber life he is selling the lonely homer Tanny sucking misfit bloggers

Home 4 GM

Better than martin... James. By how much, we don't know.

The guards... that's the question.

may have guys that are a better system fit ... but better players???

Tannehill = Bust, not a franchise QB

John Jerry is a better Deep Ball Passer

TannePuke was 37th in yards/pass attempt. LMAO!!!

Tannehill's fourth-quarter passer rating (64.3) ranked him 35th in the NFL last season

35th in the NFL
35th in the NFL
35th in the NFL

LMAO!

I have always said the witch has her own agenda, in all this mess the only one looking good in front of her boss is the one that can say "well we suck, but we saved a lot of money" old fool and the old fool nods

John Manz was our only hope at #19

and a great value at only 2 million a yr locked up for 4 yrs

Dolphins r clueless and ignorant

Tannehill = Loser

No Put Your Big Boy Pants On !

John Manz = Big Boy

MIT,
Still whistling as you walk past the graveyard huh?

Your greatest fear is that Henne/Jags have a better season than Tanne/Phins.

While the Phins were signing career backups the Jags signed 3 super bowl starters AFTER they announced Henne was the 2014 starter. While the phins were squandering thier draft picks the Jags put together an award winning draft.

Keep putting Henne down while you still can.

I mean....ya could surround Tannehill with pro bowlers and he'd STILL STINK!

Even w Mike Sherman padding the stats fro his inaccurate QB to make his "improved Tannehill" statement seem accurate

Tannehill had a whopping 588 pass attempts
Mostly girly passes less than 10 YDs to pad the stats

YET STILL . . .
Tannehill threw 2.9% of his passes for interceptions last season. Twenty starting quarterbacks had a lower percentage than him
lol

Shoulda Drafted Manziel

Home 4 GM

FIU is a 10 point favor against the dolphins 2014 draft class

I think someone messed with hickey s mind and told him that he wasn't allowe to select division I players after the second round. I think it it was Ireland

John'Z Manz

John'Z Man

John'Z Man

Shoulda drafted the MANZ-IEL

Home 4 GM

Do we see now how bad formulas bring bad results?

We got the 8th, last and only candidate for the GM job and what did we get in return? Zero playmakers and draft loaded with division II players. Lovely

Aside from albert, which the move could not have been more obvious, the rest was our usual acorn

I think home would have done a better job

I think home would have done a better job

There are six ELITE quarterbacks in the NFL, and those individuals are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. Those quarterbacks prop up whatever team they play for, and usually have their teams in playoff contention, and in pursuit of Super Bowls

Then there is the second tier of upper echelon quarterbacks like Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Alex Smith, Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer and Tony Romo
Some of them are aged, some are declining, some are game managers, and some are inconsistent
Butt there's little debate that each is better than Tannehill right now. Their paychecks certainly say so

That brings us to a total of 14 quarterbacks better than Tannehill, and we haven't even gotten into the young guns yet

Most of the young guns -
Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III, Nick Foles, and Andy Dalton - are Tannehill's peers
They have all outperformed him in just about every area that matters in the NFL, whether it be statistical comparisons, or team accomplishments
Most are trending upwards

Tannehill won't be better than some of his peers because there is no way he has a Foles-like come-up in 2014. But right now he's trailing that group, which brings the total of quarterbacks Tannehill is presently behind to 21

And now we get to Tannehill's contemporaries - Sam Bradford, Michael Vick, Jake Locker, Josh McCown, Matt Schaub, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Cassel - and the second-year starters (E.J. Manuel, Geno Smith), or rookie quarterbacks (Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, David Carr and Tom Savage).

That's 14 quarterbacks coming for Tannehill's spot as the NFL's 22nd best quarterback and most look way more promising

Shoulda drafted Home's pick of John Manz @ #19

WOW!

Home 4 GM

ETF @ 11:55. I really like what the jags did in the draft this year. They drafted WRs who will succeed in the NFL and most importantly they upgraded the QB.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jags within a year or two are better than the Dolphins ... but Fat Head Henne will have nothing to do with it.

Bring It, HOME !

Wow!

Home 4 GM = Amazing, like Papale walking in from the street and Lighting Up the Eagles

Home 4 GM

Screw Hickey & Fireland

Gogo, you know me, Iwas really surprised we didn't go after one more bona fide free agent on the line.

It defies logic to try to put two rookies on the same line when they were the 6th and 10th best offensive tackles according to CBS and NFL Draft scout.

Hopefully Dallas Thomas is good enough to be one of the guards. At least he's been around a year and knows what's going on.

Hopwe, that's all we have because the Dolphins didn't make many moves that filled me with confidence.

Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, and Andrew Luck are all in the top 8 QB's.

Let's see we have a qb with a serious problem for the long ball, since defenses know this, they apply a red zone defense to him. What our gm does? Gets a wr that can be covered with a DT and ask tanne to fit the ball even in a smaller window than usual.

Over 90% of wr running 4.7 ain't gonna get open in the nfl, so what is our hope? Hey he might be the next Jerry rice.......things that make you go hummmmmm

Wow
Home Reel-y wa right all along, . . . AGAIN

Coulda drafted the 2012 & 2013 defensive rooie & league MVP - defense
stayed the course w Matt Moore and shopped for an elite QB like possibly Manz

Tannehill NEVER has even rated as high as Matt Moore
but Matt Moore never cried even though he had the same sub par WRs and 0-line

2011 when Matt Moore (87.1) rallied the Dolphins back from a 0-7 start to win six of the final nine games

NostraHOMEus was right all along

Home 4 GM

Well, I know Home would've done a better job than Ireland....not that thats saying much.
