« The perfect plan for the Dolphins offensive line | Main | Quickie OTA practice reaction »

Open OTA workout today so tune in

The 2014 Dolphins squad, at least a vast majority of them, should be at training camp today for an Organizational Training Activity.

If you want play-by-play of the two hours of practice between 10 and noon you should follow me on twitter -- @ArmandoSalguero.

Otherwise come back here this afternoon for the quickie posts on what happened.

Things to look for today?

1. Brandon Gibson's progress from his knee injury (torn PCL) last year. Is he working? To what degree?

2. The offense. What are they running? How much is the classic Air Coryell descendent that you're likely to see as something of a departure from the West Coast offense offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has planned? How much read option will we see (the Dolphins will run some of it)?

3. Starters. Is Ja'Wuan James already inserted into the right tackle spot? How are the guards looking? How are the cornerbacks setting up?

Gronk & John Manz got paid high dollars and everything compt to make a Las Vegas poolside party appearance

Tannehill hosted a Chuckee Cheese party butt still had to pay for his own sodas

. . . just sayin

Shoulda drafted Manziel for only 2 million a yr for 4 yrs
Not Ju'wuanda James

Home 4 GM

Thank goodness for the Heat.

To answer your question there is stil hope but it is fading in a hurry.

Oddly enough this series wth your Jays could be a big factor. If we win the next two games we would be 5 games out, if we lose the next 2 we would be 9 games out.

They are treading in some dangerous waters with David Price. If he continues to tank its not helping his value and if he's not doing well it means the Rays probably aren't either and probably have no shot at resigning him.

If a miracle happens and they both turn it around big time there's the thinnest of chances they may be able to resign him.

Wow. A new blog. Yay

O-line = Billy, Ju'Wuanda and Shelley

two rooks that will be below average and a guy that his old team could have cared less that he walked away

nothing special about this o-line

nothing at all

Shoulda drafted John Manz

Home 4 GM

Lazor runs up tempo

yeah we get it

Butt that doesn't translate to great NFL success
Chip Kelly = Success

Lazor = fired every two yrs or less from NFL teams

7-9
All the Time

I like thinking about the circulatory systems and skeletal structures of marsupials.

I say the 2014 Dolphins are about the 2013 draft. If the 2013 draft class emerges this year and 1 or 2 of the linemen we drafted this year can play, we are a much improved team. If last year's draft still can't get on the field, it's wait till next year. We need Jordan, the two CB's and Dallas Thomas to play up to their draft status.

I hope that when the Dolphins drafted those injured players last year, they had this in mind.

John Manz has an advanced calculus degree, best QB to ever come out of Texas A&M, Great Deep Ball Passer and most of all a Winner of Football Games

Tannehill cheated on some exams, pretends to be smart, butt as seen in person and on Hard Knocks is Dumb as Box of Rocks, states he wants to go to med school some day

lol

Shoulda signed the MANZ . . .
not reach for a nobody fat guy that truly aint no dif than another fat guy in the 3rd round

Home 4 GM

I think you're giving Ireland way too much credit. He knew it was a make or break season. That's why he swapped LBers, that's why he signed Wallace, that's why he traded up for Jordan. All his moves backfired. I'm sure he wasn't thinking. 'next year'

http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2014/05/25/johnny-manziel-champagne-rainstorm-in-vegas-nightclub

Yup Manzeil is a rookie with his head screwed on straight, that's for sure.

Marc, I think you are right. But, wouldn't it be great if it worked out to be a great draft in spite of the injuries?

Already some good news at the OTA's as Mando tweeted.

Brandon Gibson back on the field. That cat was looking pretty good last year until the injury.

Posted by: Marc | May 27, 2014 at 10:09 AM

Agreed it was his Hail Mary, why else was he pacing the sidelines during games? He wanted to affect the coaches decision making that's how desperate he was.

Haha, an appearance at a Vegas night club... is an appearance getting drunk off your arse and instigating fights with total strangers all right after being upstaged by Bobby Hoyer in mini camp?

To a man, most GMs passed on manziel because they didn't think he had the proper mentality. It's not even June yet and we see evidence in spades..

Posted by: Dolfan Rick | May 27, 2014 at 10:12 AM

All around Gibson was turning into our best receiver last season in regards to production IMO.

Fields could start as punter and QB

Shirley
he can throw a better deep ball than the "awful" Tannehill

There are serious players from last year's draft. They will show.

Will Davis looked good in OTA's and training camp, but, looked lost in games, ala SEAN SMITH

J Taylor was nowhere to be found

D Thomas couldn't beat out anyone on a record-breaking awful line

D Jordan did little to nothing to support being drafted #3 overall given his athleticism

D Sims was touted as a blocking TE who caught a game winner that was amazing, but, was mostly invisible

It would be GREAT if all those guys miraculously turned it around and become solid or better, but, I wouldn't hold my breath!

not a big interest in camp watching this year

no interesting rookies

just some reach pick fat guys sweating and drinking water

Wow!

how much are the season ticket packages

lol

Home 4 GM shakes his foiled up head at the 7-9 Dolphins

John Manz has an advanced calculus degree

I guess you think you can just come on here and post fabricated nonsense without recourse but no dice, pal.

Not only does Manziel not have an "advanced calculus degree" he does not have ANY degree whatsoever as he never graduated from college in the first place.

His major was "Sports Management," by the way.

Posted by: Reel Dolphin In Sight w Home | May 27, 2014 at 10:17 AM

Well sounds like you need some time off from the blog, see ya in September then.

And let's not forget the team is still saddled with THREE awful LB'ers! Are you hitching your hope on a 5th rounder? Think he'll be the next Z Thomas (5th rounder)?

2 rookie linemen fighting with a few journeymen?

a washed up #2 DB with unproven talent behind him

an oft-injured S

and, let's not forget. There's still Ryan T...

Torn labrums on linemen who need their arm and shoulder strength are a pretty good reason to sit awhile. Taylor's kidney problems and then the groin were pretty devastating.

Just saying, catching a break with those players wouldn't be a whole lot to ask, would it?

Misi at MLB
Rookie RT

Oh boy. Already getting excited for the season

HAHA

The thing to keep an eye on during the OTA's imho is how these guys are buying in with a oouple of new coaches and Cogs gone and in Philbin's 3rd season.

It's all on Philbin as has been well documented and of course Tannehill.

Personally I think between what was already on the roster and the last 2 drafts and free agency periods the personnel is there.

I know there isn't alot of love lost for Philbin but I'm pulling for the guy to pull it together. I could really live without rebuild 6.0.

MANZ does have an advance calculus degree as stated over and over on the NFL Network today

Also Gronk & MANZ were both paid handsomely to make appearance at Las Vegas daytime pool party

The two star football playas are surrounded by 100s of gorgeous string bikini clad young women

MANZ is the Man

just like GRONK

Wow
Dolphins Reel-y picked a homely fat lineman w no eyebrows scared of holding a hand saw

LMAO1

Great job as usghe by the Brainstems in Miami Dolphins management

Why challenge Tannehill?
He's soooo accurate and amazing at scoring points

LMAO!

Wow bud you must be a real downer to talk to over lunch. The cheese sucks, the water is too cold, the waitress isn't cute enough........

I can spin all those players you listed in a positive light but what's the point when you're a glass half empty crowd? I'd be more interested to hear what you like about the team.

No, he does not. He has NO college degree at all as he never graduated college.

And his major (again) was 'Sports Management.'

You know, there is this amazing thing called the "internet" where all these fats are readily available. You should really look into it, sometime, so you don't sound so clueless.

Tom Brady 148 Wins to 43 Losses

Tannehill has more losses than wins and will remain this way until his benching in 2014-15

Shoulda drafted Johnny Football @ #19

Home 4 GM

Fact is correct. Manzeil never graduated college.

Marc,

I'll agree with Darkoak. You must be a REAL fun guy to be around. Team hasn't even played a snap of significance yet and you're already throwing in the towel. great fan you are!
Most of us are just happy that football is on the horizon again and we'll get to see some of the new guys play.

You?.....not so much.

The "good players, good coaching and good fortune" quoted by Belicik is for real. When do we get our "good fortune"?

When a strip sack turns into a first down for the opposition, things could definitely get better.

NFL Network just again reported

John Manz has a degree in Advanced Calculus

Wow!

Wish the Dolphins had a smart QB w a strategic mind, that can throw accurately deep, is quick witted, quick on his feet and a winner of football games

. . . shoulda drafted John the MANZ

Home 4 GM

still need
a qb

Marc, as much as we would like to believe, most often guys after the first round are not sure fire right out of the chute starters. IF they were, you wouldn't need position coaches. Especially CBs. it takes time - big difference between college and pros. Will Davis was a 4th rd pick. Giv ehim time. Taylor by his own admission was not right physically all year. We will get a more true indication of his talent this year. Behind Wallace, he's the fastest guy on the team and also is strong as heck and athletic. he also made a tonne of plays at Boise St. What, 5, 6 picks his last year?

And I will argue that Jordan didn't show. jordan showed plenty. Most big plays per snap for anyone on our defense. Part of his lack of production is squarly on those who insist he is a DE and a DE only.

Fat half retarded Ju'wuan James will make little to no dif on this team

Fox is even better

James could not even get a paid gig at an Arby's inhaling roasted Pig Sandwiches

Manz is wanted $ everywhere and has the number one selling rookie jersey

Shoulda drafted Manziel for 2 million a yr for 4 yrs

Home 4 GM, Capologist & Marketing manager

Home.... Johnny Manziel will go the same way as Tim Tebow.
It's time for you to move on, he's not coming to Miami.

Haha, advanced Calculus... everyone knows his major was in Douchebaggery as he so eloquently displayed two days into his pro career...

no wonder you look up to him so much...

Home will change his name when Johnny gets his legs ripped off.

At least 2 watt still shows up. Even after predicting the Dolphins would be 0-6 to start last season.

Good morning 2 watt!!!

Nice to see they have Thomas at guard. I think it's his best shot.

Posted by: Mark in Toronto | May 27, 2014 at 10:38 AM

I would bet you can actually major in douchebaggery these days, college has turned into glorified adult day care.

Sooo many jealous that Home has proven to be a better GM for the last 5yrs than anyone else picking players and FAs

Home has the pulse of this team

and ur getting 7-9 again

Get used to it

Pats & Jets are the AFC east teams to watch

Unless u want to watch fat Dolphin nobodies huffing and puffing and drinking water

NOT REEL EXCITING

U want excitement and wins
Shoulda drafted MANZ @ # 19

smh

Misi will and can play MLB. He has performed well in every position they have put him.

Again, is it too much to ask that the new guy can play middle on 3rd down to allow Misi to be on the edge? AND, Jenkins made a lot of progress last year. Maybe he can set the edge as well as Misi.

Most of you wanted a offensive tackle.

So we got one.

Just so happens he's the best right tackle in the whole draft.

I'm against getting o line in the first round.

However it's what we needed most.

I rather take the best right tackle and let him play than getting the best left tackle and hopefully he can learn a new position.

From Texas A&M's own website:

PERSONAL
Johnny Manziel is the son of Michelle and Paul Manziel … was born Dec. 6, 1992 … sports management major.

As always, you are simply clueless "Home." And you got caught here.

Manzeil does NOT have a degree in ANYTHING. He did NOT graduate college. And his major was Sports Management.

If you want to argue the facts why don't you take it up with Texas A&M themselves you misinformed nitwit?

LeBron James, Dan Marino & Home
all say
"Shoulda drafted Johnny Manziel"

I guess it has yet to occur to you that the above sentence refers to HOYER having the math degree.

So now we can add "reading comprehension of a squirrel" to your established status as an imbecile.

There is NOTHING a franchise QB couldn't fix on the Dolphins.

Comparing Home's level of intelligence to a squirrel is an insults to squirrels.

In what decade will I be able to buy some home playoff tickets for the Dolphins.?
