Quickie OTA practice reaction

Dion Jordan, the Dolphins first round draft pick, looked as if he took an air pump and plugged it into his arms and shoulders this offseason. That's how big he looks.

Jordan said he's "a little over 265" pounds now.

"I was definitely too light to go out there against some of those offensive tackles," Jordan conceded.

"This year I had the opportunity to have an offseason where I can take care of my body. I'm trying to move forward and continue to try to better myself in a few areas."

Jordan, who struggled with the rehabilitation folllowing shoulder surgery last year, said he mostly did strength work this offseason. "I'm 100 percent," he said.

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin admitted the team considered using Jordan as an OLB this year but decided against it. To hear the coach explain it, coaches don't want Jordan thinking about covering zone or man when he should be chasing the quarterback.

So he's a defensive end.

Interestingly, former Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor returned to the practice field today to work with the defensive line. Coach Joe Philbin said Taylor is working strictly on a volunteer basis for a while.

There were several players who are injured and did not work today: KR-PR Marcus Thigpen has a back issue and was not present. Defensive tackle Jared Odrick, rookie fifth-round pick Arthur Lynch and undrafted rookie Tariq Edwards did not work. It's unclear what issues they have.

Wide receiver Brandon Gibson, who tore a patellar last year, was on the field but limited in drills. He did not take part in team drills.

The starting offensive line?

RT Ja'Wuan James, RG, Shelley Smith, C Mike Pouncey, LG Dallas Thomas, and LT Branden Albert.

You should understand this is just a snapshot rather than Miami's Day One starting line. Rookie Billy Turner also got a couple of first-team snaps at left guard.

The starting defense?

Today we saw the Koa Misi middle linebacker experiment for the first time. Philbin said this is a permanent solution to Miami's linebacker problems for today. In other words, this is the way the team is going to roll for now but it isn't necessarily permanent.

We also saw Cortland Finnegan as the starting corner on the other side of Brent Grimes. And Louis Delmas worked at one starting safety along with Reshad Jones at the other starting safety.

Finnegan, by the way, had an interception in the team period against Ryan Tannehill.

DE Cameron Wake, DT Earl Mitchell, DT Randy Starks, DE Olivier Vernon. was the defensive line.

The linebackers were Misi in the middle, with Phillip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe outside.

The secondary is CB Brent Grimes, CB Finnegan, and Jones and Delmas at safety.

I did read the article though Sam. Thanks for the heads up.

With Tannehill it isn't jumping off of the cliff, it's called riding the TANNEHILL EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER.

"The steepest heights, to the deepest lows."

The kind of overall performance that leads to 8-8 final season records. That's the Tannehill Emotional Rollercoaster.

Who is Tom Devlin? And there goes your QB argument credibility.

Tannehill vs 1st team?

Moore vs second team?

Also first day of practice....

Please don't talk YG off the ledge. Put Home up there with him...

Tom Devlin does the play by play for the Toronto Raptors. A rapper once tried to fight him during a basketball game...

Tannehill is not going to be starting at QB past this year. Not even Lazor and his vaunted offensive approach can save this kid. Every year that goes by he feels more pressure. Last year and the year prior he had the least amount of pressure on his shoulders. Now he has all the weapons and S!$t ton of pressure. You think he's going to succeed? Think again.....

Guess hes a good QB.

This guy, not so much..

Great diving catch from Matt Hazel on a pass from Pat Devlin that died in the air.

I'm not sure if anyone actually caught your drift on your Pouncey post but to your point, PFT's headline on the matter reads MIKE POUNCEY HAS NO REGRETS ABOUT LAST SEASON.

Good post dude.

Actually I do.

You even suck as a troll.

Tanne-coaster maybe the best nickname yet to describe his consistently inconsistent, up and down performance as starting qb for our Miami Dolphins. Some here hate it when reporting the truth on Tannehill, but, facts are facts and never change regardless.

Sorry about your luck Tanne-coasters. Sorry about all of our luck as Miami Dolfans. We will be looking for a qb 1st rd next year. Bank on it!

Tannehill got sacked about 58 times last season, despite that he maintained an 81.7 passer rating. He has had no time to throw the ball and has gotten hit repeatedly game after game and hung in there and did a pretty decent job given the circumstances. Not to mention having basically no running game leaves most of our offense up to passing. Now does he have alot to prove this season? Of course but for everyone to drop the hatchet on him and say he is the single reason we aren't a great team is absurd. Our O - line has been basically rebuilt so watch what he does this year. I have a feeling it will be a drastic change.

Please don't talk YG off the ledge. Put Home up there with him...

You had to know I was anticipating a response on that!

YG, why don't you just call Tannehill, Buster like you called me yesterday?

You're 1940s jargon just cuts me up...

Posted by: CommonSense | May 27, 2014 at 03:20 PM

Truth hurts doesn't? Help, it hurts me too, but that des not make anymore less REALISTIC.

Sorry 'bout all of our luck, in our Tannehill regards. Itisnt my fault Tannehill isn't quite living up to the upside we al as fans hoped and longed for.

Nothing left to do but push the "NEXT" button at qb now. :)

blah blah
blah blah
decent = suxx

TANNE-NEXT! Now that could be far more accurate than his on the field play.

Next, it what we'll probably be doing 1st rd 2015, at our qb position.

I'd like to point out the obvious to all of the panicked fans who are up in arms about Dion Jordan and Olivier Vernon sharing snaps. Cameron Wake is 31. The guy will need to have more breaks as the season wears on. And also, Wake had a knee injury last year and forced himself to play despite not being close to 100%. Jordan will assure Cam Wake that he doesn't need to hop around on one leg the next time he gets injured. There will be pleanty of plays to go around next year for Wake, Vernon and Jordan. In 3 years Vernon and Jordan will be here and in their prime while Wake will be near the end of his career if its not already over.

blah blah

Decent = 8-8

8-8 = Tanne-next!

Let's imagine what this offense will do when the bullets start flying

Haha... you responded to the you suck as a troll comment. what a dumb dbag.

And what truth? Lol you praise players but dont even know their fing name.

Tanne-coaster is a qb loafer.

Tanne-next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.

35 points a game sounds good to me

I'm not sure about the rest but I'm not making excuses for they guy. He's making millions, has a hot wife, and lives or could live in South Florida. He needs to earn his keep no doubt.

If he doesn't cut it he'll be sent packing. I'm just pulling for him, the Dolphins, and us that he's not tanne-coaster or whatever.

I can't be believe we passed on;

Johnny Football

this year. Exactly why Hickey will fire Philbin at season's end for telling him Tanne-coaster was ok.

Rick, don't bother with logic. Unless Tannehill completes 100% of his passes he will still suck to the trolls.

They just need something to complain about.

I agree the guy needs to earn his keep, but any person with a brain could understand why last year may have been difficult. Yet he still put up decent numbers.

I'm going to get behind the "Misi to MLB" movement.

If nothing else, Misi **PROVED** he can play with the Big Boys. He's steadily improved and did everything the Coaches have asked him to do.

Misi didn't come in and wow anybody. But he did continue to get better and better. He's a solid........SOLID......Lunch Pail/Blue Collar type of Player. He's played DE and DT at the collegiate level. He's played DE and OLB in the Pro's.

After 4 years of improving and gaining invaluable experience, Misi just might make an excellent MLB.

At 6-3 and 255-260 range, he has basically prototypical size.........**AND SPEED**. Misi clocked a 4.75 - 40 at the combine. I think he's "READY"!

He's learned(and improved)how to handle and shed blocks at this level. I would assume he's been in all the Linebacker Rooms/Meetings. Plus, with the prior "Experiments", I would also assume he's worked on being/becoming a diagnostician.

I'm getting behind the "Misi Movement". I think this will lead to vindication for the 40th pick of the 2010 draft. He's primed and set for a breakout season at MLB!

Get on Board while you can! The 55'ers Fan-Wagon is leaving the Station! Whoop-WHOOOOOOOOP!!!!

Mark, is YG Home?

NFL stands for "Not For Long" if Tannehill doesn't become a playoff qb this year. His next NFL job will be as backup qb for a new team, just like Chad Henne.

Tannehill had one int today, but it was reported db's dropped at least 3 ints. Basically Tannehill threw 4 PICKS today. 3 of them were drops.

Posted by: SAM I AM | May 27, 2014 at 02:55 PM

I like you WAY MORE when you're "Daytona Sam" as opposed to your peculiar "Home" Schtick/Character!

PS: Are you going to "Work In" any Cuban Menace or ALoco "Routines" anytime soon........?

Hickey & Lazor had the luxury of coming into the organization with a fresh perspective, with no attachments to any players.

They evaluated Tannehill and decided he had the skills to win...otherwise Hickey would have taken QB at #19...or any other round to be frank.

Fins all in on this kid so we'll know soon enough...and if all the haters here are correct, then we'll give you the kudos you deserve and move on.

odin, STFU !

Uncommon Lack of Sense,

Exactly what has Tanne-coaster proven that leads you to call all fans that are no happy with the Tann-coaster ride, trolls?

So, what you're trying to tell us is, if we're ot happy with the 8-8 Tanne-coaster we suck as fans?

Geesh who's the "real troll" here? LMAO......

When did I call all fans. I just called you a troll. Because you say the same stupid crap over and over under 5 different names. By definition you are a troll.

You got enough attention from me though so f off.

Is Brock Jensen the starting QB yet?

Posted by: NHFinsFan | May 27, 2014 at 03:39 PM

Hickey must have been "sick to his stomach" today in Tanne-coaster's first "Organized Team Activities".

Hickey "rolled the dice" in the draft, praying Tanne-coaster had improven.

In what decade will the Dolphins finally have a franchise QB?

Miami means touchdown. Suckers

Posted by: Zonk | May 27, 2014 at 03:44 PM

Not yet, but, Matt Moore should be the starting qb by game 5. :)

Our offense will be explosive

May the best player start if it's Matt Moore so be it

There is NOTHING a franchise QB can't fix on the Dolphins.

Marlins winning....... Check

Heat World Champs..... Check

Fins Word Chumps...... Check

LMAO................... Double-check!

Take your own advice!

Yet another day where nothing even remotely intelligent, insightful, or interesting is written on this blog.

Posted by: same as ever | May 27, 2014 at 03:51 PM

This post matched all those characteristics.

Have the Dolphins won a playoff game yet?

Here comes the YG tantrum right on schedule.

can't wait to see Brady get creamed by Vernon and DJ. GO DOLPHINS!!

CS, I don't think so but it's easy to lump these colossal morons in a bunch.

You guys are all front runners you are a bunch of losers have faith in your team look are the Detroit lion they have all the talent I. The world including a qb and they still suck

Maybe you are all frustrated gays I don't know

True. The Manziel love got me thinking...

Have a good one. Works out and its nice today.

Joe Nammath, you might be drunk again bro.

We will rock our opponents we will unleash hell upon them

This team will come alive this year in all aspects of the game

There is a high probability that Pat Devlin will take over the QB duties of the Miami Dolphins at some point this Season.

pouncey better get himself to some classes he he may not play a down this year
