Reliever Joe Nelson is a Tampa Bay Ray.
On Wednesday, the right-hander, whom the Marlins non-tendered, agreed to terms on a one-year deal for $1.3 million.
Nelson was contacted by 20 teams after the Marlins parted company with the 34-year-old reliever, who turned in his best major league season in 2008.

great move by the rays. makes a good bullpen even stronger.

Just another player who was valuable to their success had to part ways in result of Loria not opening up his check book. You know it's frustrating when the owner is making an immense profit on account of having the lowest payroll in baseball. The money given to the Marlins franchise should be used to better the ball club; not to make Loria and his buddies more money. Major League Baseball should step in for not only the team's sake but for the fans as well.

Another ridiculous move by the Marlins!!! Headline in Miami Herald should be "Marlins fans get stabbed in heart and gut repeatedly." Or, how about, "Massacre at Joe Robbie Stadium during Marlins news announcement!!!"
Mike/Clark - Can we do some investigative reporting on an estimate of how much the Marlins are indeed making? Also, when is it going to end?
