NEW YORK -- Hanley Ramirez will test his sore groin during batting practice today at Citi Field, but he remains a day or two away from returning to the starting lineup. Fredi Gonzalez said Ramirez might be able to pinch-hit tonight, and could remain in the game at that point.
Alfredo Amezaga is another story. It'll be at least 7 to 10 days before the utility player will be ready to come off the disabled list (left knee bruise). He has not been hitting or running, and would need to play in at least three or four minor-league games before the Marlins would consider adding him to their roster.
Marlins: 1. Emilio Bonifacio, ss; 2. Chris Coghlan, lf; 3. Dan Uggla, 2b; 4. Jorge Cantu, 1b; 5. John Baker, c; 6. Cody Ross, cf; 7. Jeremy Hermida, rf; 8. Wes Helms, 3b; 9. Sean West, p.

Nobody misses Amezaga.

God Paolo, did Amezaga spit in your milkshake or something? I've never seen anyone so angry about a marginal, versatile bench player before.

Versatile? lol

Because a guy who, according to just about every metric, can play average to above average defense at 6 different positions isn't versatile?
I see your lol sir, and raise you a *rolls eyes*.

Lets be real, he does not have the height to play the outfield and jump for balls that are threats to go over the wall especially at Dolphin Stadium aka Land Shark Stadium. He has the speed but that is about it. His arm is about average at best to below average. He is nothing but an infielder, the guy can't play as many position as Fredi makes it out to be, more times than not he causes us games when he is out in the outfield. He is a middle infielder at the very least. As a hitter, he is a bottom of the order kinda guy, does not deserve to start games under any circumstances because he is worse than Boni is he can't get the ball past the pitcher. He is impatient and has a horrible eye at the plate.
Heres an idea I ask all A mess aga supporters, if he is so versatile, why don't we trade him to another team to try and get us some help elsewhere? Don't you guys claim every team in the league would want this bum? Well, if you care for the better of the team and not just a single player than lets do it. Of course nobody wants this guy and wouldnt give up anything for him. He would not be in the big leagues if it werent for Fredi and los Marlins. He would be in Mexico. Either way, go Marlins. Sean West is the real deal

Boni 0-2 thus far but has made the pitcher work to the best of his ability each time and put the bat on the ball just has landed at the hands of some solid Mutts defenders each time

how about because we could use him ourselves idot

So, your biggest hit on him is that he can't steal back homers at the wall? Something that will be a possibility maybe 2 plays a year? That's 100% ridiculous. His arm is above average, as both shown by the fact that he was 2nd in CF assists and was 3rd in +/- throwing kills in 2007. As a hitter, he's not very good at all, especially from the right side. Not a big deal for a bench player with his kind of defense and, yes, versatility.
And talking about "claims" you "claim" that no other team want's him, as if you had even 1 fact to base such a thing on. Do you? Of course not, you're basing it on your own, completely irrational, dislike of him.

How you can have this thing against Amezaga but all this love for Bonifacio, I will never know.

Manny Ramirez going to the All-Star game, lets get A mess aga in there as well? NOT!

I praise Boni despite his continous struggles because the kid does have a lot more potential and upside than A mess aga. One can make a case that offensively they are useless, but at least Boni makes up for his lack of offense with some solid defense minus a few recent blunders.

He has almost no potential as a starter. According to just about every scout, his potential is... to one day be Alfredo Amezaga! Gotta love that.
And no one is claiming Amezaga is an all-star, stop putting your own twisted words in other people's mouths.

Boni with the bunt base-hit
Posted by: FireFrediCutAmezaga | May 29, 2009 at 08:55 PM
Amezaga has never gotten a hit before. Proof Boni is better than Mez.
Not to mention that was a HORRIBLE drag bunt that fell lucky by Boni for his first hit since the series vs Tampa Bay.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Sometimes it would be nice to be good though.
