Marlins Promoting RHP Tim Wood

          Wood                                                                                           The Marlins are calling up right-handed reliever Tim Wood from Triple A New Orleans to replace Hayden Penn, who was designated for assignment.

              Wood, 26, has appeared in 14 games for the Zephyrs, going 1-0 with a 0.54 ERA. He has walked seven and struck out 17 in 16 2/3 innings.

              Wood was chosen by the Marlins in the 44th round of the 2002 draft

              The Marlins on Thursday also outrighted reliever Carlos Martinez to New Orleans and reinstated pitcher Rick VandenHurk from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple A.
