Fredi Gonzalez has tweaked his lineup for tonight's game against the Giants with leadoff hitter Cameron Maybin starting the game on the bench.
Chris Coghlan, second among all leadoff men in OBP last season, is back in the top slot. Gaby Sanchez, who drove in a run in Florida's 3-2 loss last night, will bat second.
Haven't gone down to talk to Fredi as of yet, but obviously he felt something needed to be done.
After last night's game, Fredi and the Marlins management had a closed door meeting in the manager's office. I'm sure the lack of production from the leadoff spot -- and Coghlan isn't exactly ripping it up from No. 2 -- was a topic of discussion.
Coghlan has gone hitless in his past three games.
In 11 games as the leadoff man this season, Coghlan is 8 for 50.
Here's the Marlins lineup for tonight: LF Chris Coghlan; 1B Gaby Sanchez; SS Hanley Ramirez; 3B Jorge Cantu; 2B Dan Uggla; C John Baker; CF Cody Ross; RF Brett Carroll; P Ricky Nolasco.

Fix the Bullpen, that's the problem...Release Pinto, that's a good start

Yes, the hitting will come around, but the bullpen needs a change.... How about spending $$$ for a real closer, so we can win the ones in hand.

apparently the closed door meeting resulted in Mike Lamb being designated for assignment. He only struck out once in 18 at bats so he obviously didn't fit the Marlins Gameplan.
He probably stayed away from hitting coach Jim Presley
