Murphy heads to DL; Petersen recalled from Triple A

ST. LOUIS — The Marlins placed infielder Donnie Murphy on the 15-day disabled list Monday (retroactive to April) with right wrist inflammation and recalled outfielder Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans to take his spot.

Murphy, who dislocated the same wrist last September and underwent surgery, opened the season as the starting third baseman for the Marlins. But he's struggled after re-injuring the wrist and was hitting only .103 (4 for 39).

Petersen, who produced just 2 hits in 24 at-bats last season for the Marlins, was batting .342 with three homers, seven doubles and 10 RBIs at Triple-A New Orleans.

COGHLAND SHOULD BE MOVED TO LF BECAUSE IT IS MORE EASY THROW AND HE HAS RIGHT SHOULDER PAIN, BUT EDWING DON'T THINK SO; HANDLEY AVE IS ONLY 0.210; WHO THINK IT IS REASONABLE THIS PLAYER BE 3RD IN THE LINE-UP, BUT EDWING THINK SO.

MarlinFan

I wouldn't be criticizing Edwin when the team is 17 - 9 with all the injuries. He's doing a great job.

Jack

Nice grammar, Juan. Any chance you get one of the players names correct next post?

Glags

Lol and Edwin is doing great.

Lou Vales

Do you know how much time and energy I put into having Murphy disappear.I equate Murphy with the Wicked Witch of the West.

He's meltinggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!

Glags

It's more of a symbolic victory for you Lou as he's probably coming back from the DL.

Lou Vales

Wanna bet??? He's useless.a malcontent and LoMo is comong back and Edwin prefers Martinez.

Murphy can hang with West.

Lou Vales

By the way, according to Murphy himself he has been hurting with something different all year long. His nickname should be Cal Jr.

Guys(Girls), Let's be clear!! I love Buck, hayes, Sanchez, Dobbs, Stanton, Coghlin, BONAFACIO!!!!!!, Johnson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nolasco, Dunn,Sanches, Hensley and Nunez I'm pretty sure Hanley will snap out of this---won't he??? BUT--BIG HUGE"BUT"this team is too good to have the flotsam and jetsam dotting this roster. Will need LoMo back to contend and will need Infante to do SOMETHING--ANYTHING!! He batted5 times tonight, took 5 first pitch strikes and 3 times took first 2 strikes. I have seen him play many times with Atlanta. He is better than this. Play Martinez one game this series and give him a rest. We will still need a 5th starter. Volstad is what he is and that is not a rotation guy for a contending team.Too bad the slovenly West had other things on his mind last year--EATING!!!--and ballooned so far out of shape that he got hurt shagging fly balls. that probably contributed in someway to problems he has now.

I believe West SHOULD still have some of that bonus money left and as I've suggested before maybe he can open that bait shop in Louisiana--with Murphy as a partner. Thing Bubba Gump!!

Lou Vales

Edwin, Since you are obviously reading the blogt, I just wanted to inform you Infante needs a break.Don't wait until Thursday, either Tuesday or Wednesday. Tell Coghlin to quit air mailing throws that have no chance, tell the Cheap Skate that he has the chance to be on the cover of Fortune Magazine and do something really special by starting to work RIGHT NOW on finding Volstad's replacement. This crap just might work at 3rd, but you need an outfielder coming off bench who can put ball in play. NEVER thought Coghlin could play CF this well and did not think Dunn was THIS ready, however, i NEVER gave up on Bonafacio who just needed some time.PLEASE no morecharity for Murphy. If he is on this roster, that is like running a white sheet over the wall of a garrison. Edwin,I bet even you were getting tired of Murphy's excuses and actual audacity about his playing time.MAN!!

Glags

Oh here we go. Volstad is the new flavor of the month. You know I really am starting to hope they send Murphy to the minors. Hell, they should release him altogether. Lou you gotta keep your end of the deal.

Lou Vales

Glags, You now how they say "60 is the new 40", not true by the way, well Volstad believes 5 innings is the new 7 innings. You can't have a guy in your rotation constantly being responsible for pen having to go 4 innings each of his starets.Hell, why should they release an injury prone, range challenged, career minor leaguer, hitting .105 who blames his woes on his "bad luck" and who bemoans his lack of playing time?????? Tough call.

Glags

Well played, Lou. Well played.
