Murphy heads to DL; Petersen recalled from Triple A

ST. LOUIS — The Marlins placed infielder Donnie Murphy on the 15-day disabled list Monday (retroactive to April) with right wrist inflammation and recalled outfielder Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans to take his spot.

Murphy, who dislocated the same wrist last September and underwent surgery, opened the season as the starting third baseman for the Marlins. But he's struggled after re-injuring the wrist and was hitting only .103 (4 for 39).

Petersen, who produced just 2 hits in 24 at-bats last season for the Marlins, was batting .342 with three homers, seven doubles and 10 RBIs at Triple-A New Orleans.
