Check out this logo, which has been floating around on the internet and is rumored to be the Miami Marlins' new logo. It certainly contains all the colors that the team has been using lately in promotional material.
"Official unveiling 11/11 (Nov. 11)," texted Marlins president David Samson. "No other comment."
Thoughts?

This is horrible. Why didn't they just make the colors pink and mint green in honor of Miami Vice. That wouldn't have been anymore embarrassing looking than this pile of rainbow garbage. The old colors and logo are way better than this. I am disgusted.
Who in their right mind thought a rainbow baseball uniform would be appealing to anyone? No one likes those boring old traditional uniforms worn by teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Braves. Oh wait, I guess they do sell alot of memorabilia. But they obviously cannot touch the beautiful rainbow designs worn in the past by the Astros, Nuggets, Thunder, etc. Everyone loved those. Ha ha ha. Has the organization ever seen a list of ugliest unis in sports?

Do not know what to say, I showed it to my two sons, and they were like Im never going to wear a Jersey or a baseball cap with those color, plain simply to Ugly to wear, maybe if is kept simple to two color it just might not look so bad

I'd drop the "M" and "Marlins", then keep the fish and put "Miami" were "Marlins" is...As for the colors, sort of ABA/Heat-ish for what reason?!?! black/white/teal have been the team colors since day 1 (thank GOD teal has been limited)

What in the hell is wrong with you people?
Ha ha..... EVERY TEAM IN THIS COUNTRY CANNOT WEAR BLACK IN SOME WAY SHAPE OR FORM!!!
GET OVER IT MIAMI!!!
Look at it this way...... the HEAT's logo... now that is horrendous (but hey, so are you choking players too).
Congrads to the Miami organization. This is a move in the right direction and this logo will be sold every where in the country.

Posted by: LordLewis | September 22, 2011 at 11:38 PM

Now if Marlins fans were this passionate about baseball (avg attendance under 19,000 in 2011, current rank 28th)... I keep reading "too many colors". Those comments remind me of Emperor Joseph in the movie Amadeus..."It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect." To which Mozart replied: "Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?" To me, this design is a breath of fresh air in a sport that identifies itself with century old logos. I mean, they could have come up with an interlocking old English "MM" for crying out loud, and thankfully, they did not. Now, Marlins fans, take that passion over the logo and go to the ballpark and support your team!

What an embaressment!

Samson going after a new fan base to start the Miami Marleens off on the right foot ..the Gays and the Latins...to hell with the Gringos north of the county line...

When the novelty and allure of the fancy new stadium wears off and the attendance returns to the 3000-5000 you're used to, it won't matter. More Phillies fans will be there when they visit than Marlins fans. What a waste.

We need to move the Rays to Miami, end baseball in Tampa and send the Marlins somewhere like Indianapolis.

Come on!!!!
Posted by: jc | September 23, 2011 at 05:24 PM
Come on !!!! . Just leave the uniforms the same and just add the M.
Posted by: jc | September 23, 2011 at 05:29 PM
Ugly
Posted by: Fdez | September 23, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Okay, but they should have gone with a classic "M". Not that anyone will be paying attention at this time next year, when the novelty of a new stadium wears off.

Hideous. Too many colors. And is that orange, or red? It looks like a cheesy late-70's/early 80's Olympic logo design.
Posted by: Minor Leaguer | September 24, 2011 at 06:30 PM
I actually like the M. The colors are refreshing without straying too far from the current scheme. The marlin, however, is way too streamlined and looks out of place, like a sticker on the side.
Posted by: Alex S | September 24, 2011 at 08:55 PM
JUST DO ....BLACK & WHITE with the Orange M....keep it masculine....let the dolphins represent the females.
Posted by: lucio | September 25, 2011 at 01:54 PM
OMG...MY EYES. This thing is awful. I bet they spent a fortune to some marketing dept to come up with that garbage. As usual, they will probably not listen to their fan base and use it. Or they traded Johnson and Ramirez for this logo and more colors to be named later.

I won't buy anything with that butt-ugly logo on it.
Posted by: Boone | September 26, 2011 at 06:41 AM
The 1980's Houston Astros called and they want their logo back!!! It looks like it was borrowed from the Miami Vice show - Oh wait that was in the 80's too!
Posted by: Francois Pin | September 26, 2011 at 08:50 PM
Why not replace the F with an M. The current Marlin image is so much more representative of Florida and Miami than the rainbow coalition flag!
Posted by: Francois Pin | September 26, 2011 at 09:05 PM
Is that the Concorde flying over the M? Oh wait that is from the 80's too!!!!
Posted by: Francois Pin | September 26, 2011 at 09:06 PM
It reminds me of the Maroon 5 logo
Posted by: Colton | September 27, 2011 at 05:30 PM
It's not bad i think is diferent
Posted by: yasmani | September 29, 2011 at 02:42 PM
There is nothing wrong with the logo now. Just change the F to an M and that's it. The team wants to bring more fans to the stadium? With this logo they're going to lose alot of they're long time fans who like the colors and the history of this franchise. A new stadium doesnt mean change everything. Cmon marlins, listen to your tax paying fans who helped build this new stadium. I'm a season ticket holder and I believe this has to be a joke. why not create 3 logos and let fans vote on it. Maybe they can gain fans with that idea.
Posted by: Sean w | September 30, 2011 at 03:00 AM
I hope this is just a bad joke!!!
Posted by: Thomas Parker | November 10, 2011 at 09:11 PM
I'm speechless...please let this be a bogus leak.
Posted by: Darryl | November 11, 2011 at 10:04 AM
What's wrong with the Marlins? They should have hired an artist with good taste!
Posted by: Eric | November 11, 2011 at 03:31 PM
My little one could have drawn something better then that! It's the worst logo ever!
