MILWAUKEE -- The Marlins have posted three different lineup cards this morning due to the late scratches of, first, Giancarlo Stanton and, just a moment ago, Hanley Ramirez.
Both are complaining of sore knees.
Stanton, who has not missed a game since April 22, isn't playing due to overall fatigue and a sore right knee. He said he expects to play Wednesday and take part in next week's All-Star festivities, including the Home Run Derby.
"I was really fatigued yesterday, so I thought I'd wake up this morning and see how I felt, and I was still a little sore," Stanton said. "I was dragging a little bit yesterday."
Said manager Ozzie Guillen: "I don't want to take any chances. It's an early game after a night game. He can pinch-hit if we need him, and tomorrow we'll see how it is."
Guillen said he was surprised that Stanton has required more time off during the season after battling a knee problem in spring training.
"We've been lucky, to be honest with you," Guillen said. "I thought it was going to be worse. When we left spring training, I thought we were going to be kind of like LoMo was...we give LoMo a lot of rest here and there. But when he says it's a little sore, then you have to be careful."
As for Ramirez, Guillen said: “He’s been sore for the last couple of days. Today, he started swinging and was sore. I would rather give him a day off than lose him for 15, 20 days.”
It is an extremely hot day here in Milwaukee, as it is in other parts of the country, with the temperature expected to soar to 100 degrees.
Lineups:
Marlins: 1. Jose Reyes, ss; 2. Donovan Solano, 3b; 3. Greg Dobbs, rf; 4. Logan Morrison, lf; 5. Justin Ruggiano, cf; 6. Omar Infante, 2b; 7. Gaby Sanchez, 1b; 8. John Buck, c; 9. Anibal Sanchez, p.
Brewers: 1. Carlos Gomez, cf; 2. Norichika Aoki, rf; 3. Ryan Braun, lf; 4. Aramis Ramirez, 3b; 5. Corey Hart, 1b; 6. Rickie Weeks, 2b; 7. Cody Ransom, ss; 8. Martin Maldonado, c; 9. Marco Estrada, p.

Scot Posey, you write well and I like your posts. In a prior post you mentioned a link with Detroit? Without revealing your identity, are you the person that I had lunch with last year? If so, welcome back.
However, am confused by 1st sentence in final paragraph. Do you mean "exasperate"?

I am the same person and I hope you read the apology I directed mostly towards you about the comments I made last year on this Blog. That was all on me for being a "blank" as Ozzie would say.

Scot Posey,
You write well and I enjoy your posts. In the past you mentioned a link with Detroit. Without revealing your identity, are you the fellow that I had lunch with last year? If so, welcome back!
In post above, I don't inderstand the phrase about "exascerbated to a health nut like me". Do you mean "exasperated"?

I really can't believe Guillen is saying that. Maybe I have totally over estimated him. I understand that Webb stinks and I also understand Gaudin stinks and I also understand that Bell Stinks, however, of those 3 guys who is doing the best Bonnie and Clyde impersonation? It's almost as if management got to Guillen and told him to get his %$^ in the clubhouse and issus that "Non-denial denial", how could he say that and mean it? I've lost most of my respect for him. In the words of a formerly esteemed Venezuelan--"That was H&^&%*%^&$"

Stan, I am so damn mad. I don't know what I meant. Exacerbate, exasperate, tittilate, cohabitate or any other "ATE" as in what Bell does with his life.

Laurel, If you are out there PLEASE get inspired and write a story to describe this. Give us something that would appear on the back of a New York daily, the Boston Globe, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun---A REAL newspaper befitting a major metro area.

Scott, an excellent idea. LB is always good for synopsizing our thoughts. As he previously explained, he wrote professionally before falling to this sad level of fandom that we all are experiencing. (That wasn't I above.) And I repeat, nice to have you back and your posts are thoughtful, well written, and topical. Sorry I appeared twice above. Didn't realize we'd turned a page and thought I was deleted

Somebody!!! Write something!! Take it upon yourself, get inspired and describe what is going on. This can become a meaningful blog. We are soon about to see the debut of this Train Wreck on Showtime. It will have higher ratings than "The Big C, Nurse Jackie and The Borgias" combined. We can have fun with this whole fiasco this year as the country gets introduced to "The TALENT Scout", "The Son-In-Law",The Pitching Coach", "The Enigma", "Charlie Lau,Jr", ""The Human Heath Bar", "Tommy Bahama", this will all be great but we need a local presence to document it.

Stan, Where are Dick Young, Shirley Povich, Jimmy Cannon, Melvin Durslag, Grantland Rice when we need em??? Hell!! I'll take Heda Hopper. You don't need to be Faulkner, Williams, Irving or Wolfe to get to the essence of this. We need someone who can cull together a narrative.

It's brutal as a fan....is it brutal for this organization? Will they come out and admit there is an issue? Heath Bell must be moved down at the very least in that bullpen AND remain there forever! There's no more closer for his career. Continue to treat what few fans you have like idiots and the city of Miami will have an empty ballpark in 10 years. Such a missed opportunity to gain fans and this epic fail. And don't tell me were only 5 or 6 games out of the wild card! Hae some honor and someone should fall on the sword for this franchise. There are many that are to blame but quite simply, in the business world...Larry Beinfest must go.
Isn't it funny how we all love to write on this blog because it makes us feel better after the abuse we just endured. It's still baseball and I love talking about it. For my father 5 years gone who loved this silly game.
Now I will try and go to sleep and not have nightmares of Heath Bell eating all my food and blowing game 7 in the World Series in the top of the 9th at Marlins park, right after fan fav Justin Ruggiano hit a 3 run go ahead HR in the top of the 8th.....to..........Juan Pierre.

Sorry bottom of the 8th...I'm stoned.

Isn't anyone else furious? Not so much at the outcome as to the utter ineptitude of a failed high priced closer and then the abject coddling of that closer by a guy who brags about getting drunk in hotel bars. These guys should have never granted Showtime access. Even though the local "journalists" don't appreciate the modern day "Absalom,Absalom" they have here, the national media will have a field day with this.

Nixon used to talk about "the silent majority". We all know how we concerned fans feel. Let's hope that the more casual observer, the to now silent majority, is also getting fed up. It's amazing that the powers that be seem to think that all of this will go away and the fans will still support this organization of misfits. Dear FO, look at that sea of blue out there where fans should be sitting and contemplate whether it will soon get better...or worse...much worse. You could soon be looking at Sun Life Stadium with a roof!

Hanley is a first rate dog . If your too "hurt/sore" to play, how are you magically able to play when the game becomes tied ..... Can't believe how awful Bell is , someone who was lights out in SD. No bullpen for the most part, sloppy defense and poor managing , all equals a season mired in mediocre play at best . This team should not be where they are in the standings. Only thing saving them, are the Phillies break up and injuries from last place .

It wasn't an exposé as someone suggested but ESPN has two interesting articles. One about how Bell can't be a closer and the other on Ozzie's rant.
