Jacob Turner to miss start with shoulder injury

WASHINGTON -- Jacob Turner will miss his scheduled start on Wednesday's due to a shoulder injury he sustained while taking batting practice. Brad Hand will start in his place.

"Jacob Turner's got a strained right (shoulder), that he strained hitting in the cage," manager Mike Redmond said following Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Nationals. "He's going to be evaluated tomorrow. It's just something that cropped up today."

Redmond said he didn't think Turner would undergo and MRI, but would be re-evaluated Wednesday.

"We'll know more tomorrow," Redmond said.

Hand went three innings Friday to earn the save.
