About Fish Bytes
Clark Spencer saw his first major-league game in 1965 from the sun deck at old Crosley Field in Cincinnati, an afternoon twin bill against the Cubs in which Reds pitcher Sammy Ellis started and lost the first game but emerged from the bullpen to win the second in relief. Spencer has been covering the Marlins for The Miami Herald since 1999. When he's assigned to the team on the road, he usually spends his free mornings searching used bookstores to add to his collection of National Book Award winners for fiction.
Mike Phillips grew up in the bleachers in Chicago’s Wrigley Field when the seats cost $1 and every game was played during the day. He is still amazed that he got to the World Series before the Cubs. Phillips has been at The Miami Herald for more than 20 years, and has covered baseball for more than a decade.
