We play FAU at home this season?

CrazyCane what are you doing in this forum. Pick a side ... these Cane/but can only afford FIU fans always have something to say.

yes, we play FAU at home in the cage.

FIURage, my side is and always will be The U. I am on this blog in order to keep some balance. If i just sit and post on the UM blog, it is no fun, but, to come on this FIU blag and ruffle some feathers and point out everytime an FIU fan goes off his medication and predicts a 10 win season or something stupid like that, it adds some balance to my college sports fanhood. I'm sorry if you want a blog where FIU fans just post the same nonsense over and over again, how many people need to post that they thought TY should be in the Heisman watch before one smart person realizes that he not playing teams with any talent and/or he is the only option on a crappy team and that is why he puts up some decent numbers.

Pete,

I see that we only have 5 home games in 2009. Will we start having 6 home games starting in 2010? It sucks having so many away games... especially when some of them aren't televised.

and besides, The U has been sucking it up lately. So I need to keep my mind on other things...

In case you have not seen this yet, nice short video of the boyz doing drills/conditioning...

Wow...very tough early schedule, having 4 of the first 5 games on the road, including two 'big' teams in Alabama and Rutgers, which will be pegged as most likely losses.

Another very tough hardship I find out with this schedule is that there are not bye weeks this year, except for the Saturday of Thanksgiving in between the Florida (Nov. 21) and FAU game (December 4). It feels like murderous row, since we start so late in the season against Alabama in Sept. 12....I don't like that.

Actually, we need to win 2 of the first 5 games to be in fairly good position. If we win 3 out of 5, it would mean most likely that we started the SBC season 2-0 on the road, which would position us great for a 7-5, or even 8-4 season..

We end up 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the SBC. If we start with 3 wins out of the first five games, that might mean not just a 7-5 record (and 6-2 in the SBC) with more probability, but an outside chance for 8-4.

pikedanny - nobody goes to the home games anyway, so whats the difference. And please do not cite the first game as an example, other than the first game, that place was empty. I was at a game, PP has already verified it, and the place was lucky to have 2000 people there.

You are loco to say that only 2000...lost all sort of small level of credibility...

FIU Fanatic - you're right, it was more like 1500

It was a lot closer to 11,500 than to 1,500....

I think we go 8-4, losses to Bama, Rutgers, Florida and one conference loss, probably Troy.

We should beat FAU, had them beat last year and blew it. I would not be surprised if we beat Troy, and could instead see a conference loss to the Cajuns. So 8-4 is my call.

CrazyCane,

What's more RIDICULOUS ??

A new program with relatively little sports success to date, building from the ground up with a very small loyal following, trying to build something special in a tough sports market - with another program that has won 5 National Titles in football in the same community...

or

That program with 5 National Titles, NO HOME FIELD, NO LOYAL FAN BASE except for the (30,000 gangsters with shaved heads and goatees) that never went to the U, and a new neighbor that is a community program across town poised to burst on the scene and give over 100K grads something to be proud of...

Your pathetic U, with all it's glory can barely muster 30K per game. All the 1st rd draft picks, heismans, etc etc etc.....Any other BCS school with this kind of history would SELL OUT every game NO MATTER WHAT.

The thing is, MIAMI is like that HOT GIRL in school that everyone wants to romp around with. But when she's not looking her best, hmmmmm where's all the LOVE ?? NO LOYALTY, cuz there's no REAL common bond...

What you fail to see, is that FIU is the darling everyone will be rooting for once that watershed moment arrives. She's the girl you build a family and tradition around.

Enjoy your scUM Glory and Tradition, because that's all you have. I hate to admit, and a part of me resents the FIU graduates that cheer for MIAMI - however they will ABANDON your CANES in a MIAMI minute once FIU takes down a few legit opponents. Maybe not this year or next, but very soon...The train has left the station and it's headed for Tuscaloosa, AL.

Pete,

Dec. ?? - at (Motor City) Bowl - L (If we do better than I predicted above, which will probably and hopefully happen, I would predict a Loss at the New Orleans Bowl.)

I put a W at Rutgers because I think Rutgers might be on the way down or, at least back down to par from where the were a few seasons back. I put a few loss in our conference because I think we might get lazy (or overconfident) at times, especially considering how young we are.

I just saw this on Greg Cote's blog... sucks...

Soccer's no-win situation in Miami: Miami won't get one of two Major League Soccer expansion franchises, which is too bad. South Florida is soccer-mad more than most regions, but it is said we won't support "American soccer" (which MLS is) because our populace is filled with supporters of soccer in Colombia, Jamaica and seemingly everywhere but the U.S. In that context I couldn't help but notice the failed alliance in the Miami expansion bid was a club from Spain and a potential owner from Bolivia. Hmm. Is that the best way to grow "American soccer"? I'm just asking.

I love that the bowl game is already scheduled! Great job again Pete!!! Keep it up!

GOLD I think the only way soccer takes hold in Miami is if it links up with one of the major Latin American leagues.

I hate the fact that we only have five home games, none of them back to back, and that we open up 4 of 5 away. Not gonna be easy at all... I think we can steal one from Rutgers, but I think in the end it'll come out a loss. And I think we are going to be ready for Troy when they come down here, remember by then we will be focused and ready for them. And coming back home I think will be uplifting for the team. It'll be like last season, where we played 4 of 5 away to start out the season and when they came back we played well against Middle Tenn.

After that Troy, we should get real hot and take most of the games without a doubt. Our number one mission as fans should be to bring out people to the games. Especially students like myself who can get in free AND bring one guest in free. We can definetly pack the Cage with all the selling points we have!

I'm putting the bar high because after what we saw last year, we shouldn't expect anything less than 6-6. 7-5 or 8-4 should be where we are at. Bowl games from now on should be the norm.

FIUBlueandGold, your last post is on the money. Every word rings true. Post of the year so far.

way too early to be predicting outcomes come on pete you know better than that.

i'll read and watch more about our practices and drills until I nail the perfect pick.

FIUBlueandGold, couldn't have put it better myself! I agree, post of the year!
