UNO vs. FIU Doubleheader LIVE BLOG

Uno Logo Although Cubs great Ernie Banks probably wouldn't agree with today's weather, he'd still proclaim "Let's Play Two!" And that's what FIU and New Orleans are going to try and do.

The weather is holding up thus far. The reason for 2 games today is it's supposed to pour all day on Sunday and with Sun Belt time restrictions for Sunday games, the Panthers and Privateers would never get Sunday's game in.

It's FIU faculty and staff Day at the ballpark today where each FIU employee can bring four of their closestDaz friends or family to both ballgames for free.

Speaking of friends, the Golden Dazzlers put on their variety show tonight from the Bank. The ladies begin performing at 7 p.m. It's an ugly weekend weather-wise, but before the first pitch we'll brighten the blog....

FIU might suck but at least they have some hot chicks..How about that for your next story Mr. Beasley...

We needed this 3 wins.. FIU still has a small chance of winning 35 games for the season and finishing among the Top 3 teams in the Sunbelt. Keeping the fingers crossed!

As for the girls... They are a big time TEN!!

Go FIU

Oh man, Western Kentucky (the #19 team going into the weekend) was swept by FAU this weekend. Thats good and bad news. Good news is that going into WK may not be as bad as first thought but the filp side is that FAU is definitely better then expected. Still comes down to winnings series and the end of the year schedule looks to be brutal. One weekend at a time.

I think its the other way around... Its tough for a team like WKU to be swept 2 weekends in a row or lose 2 weekend series in a row, but it also improves FAU's rpi, which is better for when we play against them.

We definitely have the toughest conference schedule remaining out of all sun belt teams. I hope we can approach this challenge as something exciting and are able to show a strong competitive nature; not become (another name for multiple cats) and get scared.

These last few weeks of the regular season should be a fun one for the kids on the team. Its gets kind of boring when you're playing a team that is terrible.

BASEBALL CAN FINISH WITH 30+ WINS AND IN THE TOP 4 IN THE SUNBELT IF:

WKU (FIU takes 2 of 3)
Jacksonville (win)
ULM (FIU sweeps)
Bethune (payback win)
ASU (FIU takes 1 of 3)
USA (FIU takes 1 of 3)
FAU (FIU takes 2 of 3)

Total: 11 wins out of 18 games..

35 wins is going to be damn hard to get to.. And it seems the Top 2 spots are almost locked in (South Alabama, ASU).. We have one more month of regular season baseball to play and FIU needs to step up with the pitching or start summer vacation early..

GO FIU

The softball team will easily finish with 35+ wins and among the TOP 2 in the SUNBELT..

I have a feeling that the 2010 Sunbelt Champ is going to be between:
ULL
FIU
UNT

All 3 teams are playing well and it all depends what team gets hot in May.. 4 of that last 10 games are at home.. We might see one more sweep from the ladies when they play ULM at HOME.. Bring home the trophy ladies!

Go Golden Panthers!

Baseball plays twice against Jacksonville.
