Cristobal on Louisiana-Lafayette's offense

Busy, busy times on Southwest Eighth Street.

Much, much more on this weekend's game against Lafayette in the hours and days to come, but first some thoughts from Mario Cristobal on the Ragin Cajuns.

Overview of ULL:

"Physical, athletic, fast. One of the best tight ends in the country (Ladarius Green). I know he was just nominated for the Mackey Award. Real athletic at quarterback, a guy with a tremendous arm. A guy that accounted for 350 of their 430 yards last week against FAU. Lot of pressure on defense, lots of movement. A very explosive secondary, they make a lot of plays, pick off a lot of balls. They’re an impressive football team. We’re going to a place where we’ve never won before. Obviously, we have to continue to make sure that our preparation, week in and week out, is our very best, and we start out with a very big week of practice Monday, carrying through yesterday."

On ULL quarterback Blaine Gautier

"Athletic, explosive, great runner, great thrower, great high school athlete. Has waited his turn. It’s come about. Probably in a situation he wasn’t expecting, but it did happen. Thought he did a great job last week. He found a way to get the ball to Ladarious Green. He found a way to make a play on that final drive of the game and almost converted that two-point conversion in his first start. He’s settled in. He’s a dynamic player in our minds, because he is so explosive. He can do it with his feet, he can do it with his arm. He reads the field well. The offensive line is big and physical. They do a great job in the running game. They pound the ball, they go inside and outside zone with that. That’s their personality, to be aggressive on offense, and we expect them to be just as aggressive with Gautier in there."

More to come ...
