FIU recruit Taylor enrolls in prep school

Point guard Phil Taylor, who had signed to play with FIU this fall but was deemed ineligible by the NCAA, withdrew his commitment to the Panthers and has enrolled at CJEOTO prep school in New Jersey.

FIU head coach Isiah Thomas confirmed Taylor's status following FIU's 69-54 win over Barry Saturday night, although he declined to comment on the situation in accordance to NCAA rules.

Talyor is on CJEOTO's active roster, and will likely re-enter the pool of eligible collegiate players next fall.

his former hs coach has said he's wide open. Check Adam Zagoria's latest blog post, he's the first to report this earlier this afternoon.

WOW...He's one of the guys who made IT's recruiting class great. Big loss in terms of player, time, effort and money on his recruitment.

But, I guess for now, FIU has to gamble like that on players.

Is "UNIVERSITY HIGH" still open for business? just kidding....

Definitely a waste of money recruiting this kid. FIU took a chance on him despite poor grades and how does he repay them by decommitting.
