We've been so consumed with Bowlmania here at the GPP that we've overlooked the men's and women's basketball teams.
Sadly, we haven't missed a whole lot.
Since the men's loss at Louisville last Wednesday, things have only gotten worse. The Panthers had their worst loss of the season at Jackson State, a 61-52 setback to a team that entered the game at just 1-6.
The story of the night: Turnovers. Isiah's Bunch had 21 of them.
FIU (4-4) has a week to regroup, returning to the road Sunday to face Bowling Green.
That's the bad news. But there is good: transfer Alex Legion, and possibly even ineligible frosh Domique Ferguson, could be available to play when the Panthers finally return home to face Sam Houston State a week from Saturday.
As for the women, they've taken some lumps, too. The Panthers fell to UCF Sunday to fall to 4-4, as well.
Like the men, the women have the week off for finals, and return to action Monday at Jacksonville.
