As you've probably heard, FIU Baseball's Media Day was all about Garrett. Despite original threats to ban anyone asking Wittels about his pending rape charges, athletic director Pete Garcia clarified before the session, saying we were free to ask any question, and they were free to refuse to answer any question.
Despite what you might have heard elsewhere, it was pretty tame considering the situation. There was a reporter or two that might have gotten a little carried away, but Wittels stood his ground, spoke about what he wanted to and dismissed questions he didn't care to address.
Here are a few links from the press conference:
Miami Herald: FIU will let Garrett Wittels play despite rape charge
Herald columnist Greg Cote: FIU wrong to let Wittels start season
Associated Press: Garrett Wittels to start season in lineup
ESPNW: FIU takes protecting its star player too far
NBC Miami: Swing and Miss: FIU Lets Wittels Play Despite Rape Arrest

Im assuming the one or two reporters "that got carried away" where from the Miami Herald..
Can you post some kind of video or Q&A of the entire interview. Im actually more concerned about the baseball questions that were asked (if any)..
BTW I think FIU is doing the RIGHT thing by allowing him to play and protecting him from the poor skilled media that we have in Miami..
Herald: Just out of curiosity did ANY Herald staff member ask anything regarding Baseball, or their Sunbelt Championship, or their 2010 Recruiting class, or Wittels as Players of the Year, or anything that required thinking??
Best of luck to the Baseball Team this weekend. Same goes for Softball!
Go Golden Panthers!

greg cote is the biggest idiot around. First the rape charges were not in the USA. The "charges or allegations" were in the Bahamas. A country known for a horrible criminal justice. Second, if u even read the charges and synopsis of what occured, it is obvious the girl made that crap up...

Haha, my fault, I'm guessing english isn't your first language?
A "softball" question is an intentionally friendly question meant to lead the subject into a boring, obvious answer, i.e."asking about the Sunbelt Championship or Wittels as Player of the Year" - questions that require your definition of "thinking".
