Just got word from the good people at FIU's Sports Information Department that Garrett Wittels, Turtle Thomas and selected other players will be made available to the media Wednesday.
However, they will "talk about the upcoming season as defending Sun Belt Champions and Garrett Wittels chase for history ONLY," the release states, and if there are any questions about his open rape case in the Bahamas, the press conference will end immediately.
Furthermore, should a question about the charges be asked, FIU has threatened to revoke credentials for the 2011 baseball season.
Should be an interesting afternoon.

I think that press conference should only be about Baseball.. What else does the media want to talk about to a bunch of baseball players? Remember that this is JUST an accusation (nothing else).. I think FIU is taking the right approach and I honestly see the press conference lasting no more then 2 to 4 questions.. There is going to be at least one IDIOT that refuses to read his memo's.. "All about baseball" means just that.. I wish Wittel and the entire team the best of luck in Opening Weekend.. I also hope Wittel gets a hair cut before the end of the season. LOL

Has anyone learned anything from the Duke Lacrosse players rape allegations - young men's life damaged because of a cheap skank! GW has the right to keep his mouth shut about serious allegations that may have profound consequences in his life. It's an open case people; leave it alone until all the facts are out and a judicial judement is presented. Until then, stick to baseball news.

He got into it with the ref after the game, both had to be restrained from going after each other. Pretty heated. Coach at UALR got suspended for something similar.

I don't anything wrong with your coach trying to argue a call for his team. Sometimes thats what it takes to spark some fire into the team. I realize this team is NOT playing any where near what most fans thought they were going to play (including me) but as long as they get the ball rolling during the Sunbelt Tournament we could pull off a good season. Before the season started I thought we would be a .500 team that made it to the Semi's of the Sunbelt tournament. They can still make it to that point if they just PLAYED AS ONE TEAM, NOT 5 INDIVIDUALS!

Yes we do, one of them thinks it's a great idea to take Thursday's off when the SBC schedule calls for Thursday/Saturday games. Though I will say that the replacement at least did some reporting and found out WHY people where out of the game and didn't settle for "Coaches decision". No ISH it was the coaches decision, now do some reporting and find out the reason for that decision.
