You knew this would be a tough one for FIU: playing the 9:30 p.m. game Monday, going overtime and past midnight to upset George Mason, then coming back at 6 p.m. to face a better-rested Virginia Tech on the Hokies' home court.
So it proved to be. FIU fell behind 14-2, came back with an 11-0 run to close the margin to two, trained 33-26 at halftime, then fell back at the end for a 78-63 loss.
SWIMMING & DIVING
Sabrina Beaupre won her third Sun Belt Conference Diver of the Week award of the season. Beaupre won the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in Saturday's meet against Indian River and Nova Southeastern.

Last years team would never have made an 11-0 run to get the game back to 2points. V-Tech is probably a way better team with a home court advantage and the boys still made a game out of it.
With that said Im not going to get to excited the way I did when Football was 3-0 and all of us are talking about Sunbelt Champs and Big Bowls. Look at us now with two games to go (not looking very good). I honestly think this is a better team that we had last year but We are not ready to start talking Sunbelt Champs and Sweet Sixteen talk. I think we will surprise a couple good teams during the season and possibly make a good run during Feb.. One game at a time!
Go FIU

VT was definately the better team. Their size was evident.
They also benefited with home field advantage and got quite a few home calls that helped make an 8 point lead to twelve. And FIU's responce in the second half was undisciplined play and desperate sjot attempts, unlike the 11-0 run. Also alarming is that we couldnt defend the 3-point line like in the fsu game last season.
Hopefully IT can break that down and help them learn.
Eitherway we covered!

What do you expect, its the Herald.. There will never be love for the Golden Panthers. They rather look like idiots and rank a team that we beat ahead of us just to make a point. One of MANY reasons why I canceled my subscription.
On the other hand Neil has been doing a very good job covering FIU. When they play like crap he tells it like it is. Trust me we have played like crap in at least 3 games. But when they pull of a great victory he give good credit. Thats a good reporter compered to a hater.. Cote will always Suck!
Go FIU
