SWIMMING AND DIVING
Failed to get this up on the blog yesterday, which is rather incongruous with my continuous updating via blog during last week's Sun Belt Swimming & Diving Championships...
Freshman Johanna Gustafsdottir officially was invited to the NCAA championships in the three events she won at the Sun Belt championships. She'll be in the 200 individual medley Mar. 15, 100 backstroke Mar. 16 and the 200 back on Mar. 17.
Monday and Tuesday, sophomore diving ace Sabrina Beaupre will dive in the NCAA Regional with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Diving Final the following week. Beaupre won the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the Sun Belt Championships.
BASEBALL
The Marlins likely will throw Ricky Nolasco against FIU in next Wednesday night's split squad exhibition at Nothing to See Here, Investigators, Nothing to See Here Park.

SWEET. Can't wait for the season to start already!!

FIU! Football season can't come fast enough!

Should be interesting to see how the offense will replace Hilton. Opening part of the in conference schedule is tough but FIU should be able to win the conference.

They are playing the same non-conference games as last year just in a different order! What's going on? Why play Louisville again? Play a different Big East team. Perhaps one that does not have a chip on their shoulder from last year's result. They need to play in different areas to gain the necessary exposure. I know they had a successful record last year, but gain the experience and exposure of playing different out of conference games.

FIU Joseph,
Its called a home and home. When schedules are made, we schedule teams to play one game at their house and one at ours. So in order to complete the agreement, UL needs to come to Miami to play us. That is the reason why the out of conference games look the same as last years.

FIU Joseph,
To further clarify the "home & home" process...
The contract between the schools is made in two ways, it can bet consequitive years like U.Louisville and UCF or it can be for different year set up. It can be for two games or more. The Duke contract was for two years straight and they fall out of our schedule. The UL and UCF were 4 years straight based on availability/openings in each teams schedule as they are made years ahead.
In 2013 we play both again in alternating sites and host SEC Texas A&M in the final game of a "home&home" from 2010. In 2014 we complete the UCF and UL series and add host the final ACC (should be out of BE by then) game against Pittsburg.
There is always the possibility of any team not honoring the contract, like WVU did to FSU this season. The breach paid FSU 500k for cancelation and FSU had to scramble to add a team to their schedule for this year only. The only team they could squeeze in was a DII (FCS) school.
Hopefully the Aggies and the Panthers honor their contracts and we get some awsome games at the new bigger & better cage!
Either way FIU will only schedule teams that are willing to play is in Miami too. And thats how you build a program. Beign on the road for all big games sucks and your fan base never sees them.

5-7

Defense is very good every starter back not seeing 5-7 while we still play in the sunbelt and OOF games aren't really tough. I will go 6-6 or 7-5 because of how the offense is retooling

Hey any update on TY's venture in the NFL. ESPN Collin Cowherd has been giving him mad love. It will be very interersting to see what happens after he runs the 40 yard dash. Has FIU had a Pro Day? Are there any other FIU players that have a shot at making an NFL roster. I say TY 3rd round.

FIU Panthers are still 'youngsters' in this league.
I would have liked to see OTHER out of Conference Opponents but it takes two to tango.
In state rivalries are always captivating (hello USF) ?
Help us become stronger and get recognition.
