Kenny Arena, son of former US Men's National Team coach Bruce Arena, has been named FIU's new men's soccer coach.
Kenny Arena spent four seasons as an assistant coach at UCLA, one as an assistant at George Mason and one as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, Virginia. His head coaching experience came with the Under 16 LA Galaxy Academy Team. Under Arena, they won the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Southern California and National Division Championships and the 2011 Under 17 MLS Generation Addidas Cup.

Huge hire for soccer in the area!
Coach Arena comes from the U of Virginia tree of college soccer, which has produced multiple championships, developed countless pros & big-time coaches, and has helped shaped soccer in the US.
Coach Arena was the main recruiter at a UCLA program that has produced more pros in the last 4 years than any other college in the US.
Not only that, with the close relation to Bruce Arena, soccer fans in South Florida can expect to see many more soccer games at FIU that would include MLS and International sides.
I'm a big footie fan, and twitter exploded with the news of Coach Arena's hiring. It's a National story being run by all soccer reporters.
Huge coup by Pete Garcia, bravo!

Again DJN thanks for all the updates. I get the impression that Pete Garcia just may be the best AD out there. Don't know why. Maybe it's just that I am an FIU homer.
