Joey & recruiting stuff

Joey Corey hasn't officially been named director of football operations yet, though he's begun to function in that capacity. Corey's still listed as Director of Athletic Operations on the FIU sports website.

Now, new directors of football operations, being among the support staff who handles the grunt work behind the scenes, aren't always announced. But it's also possible FIU is keeping Corey's position with the football program on the down low until the NCAA whip finishes coming down over in Coral Gables. Convicted ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro named Corey, a University of Miami assistant equipment manager at the time, as being present and a witness to the alleged fun, fun, funny business between Shapiro and UM players.

FIU's extended offers to Davie University School offensive lineman Jordan Budwig, a 6-4, 310-pounder rated at two stars by Scout.com, ESPN and Rivals, and to Killian linebacker Jordan Gibbs, 6-2, 210, who wasn't rated by any of the services.

Sovthev illini boards were right about turners recruiting... hes going to fill the roster with mediocre talent. So he can have more golf time... he should atleast try to get burket back or something.

Interesting on Gibbs.

Listed as weak side DE or LB and as Heavy as 220 lb. coach Turner will play a style where Jordan can come in a a full ack and TE too. Judging from his two-way play.

SCOUTING: Having watched him perform last off season, we have been fortunate to have followed his career as he embarks on his final year at the high school level.
Make no mistake, this is a football player. One who has the skill level and speed to compete against anyone. As a defensive end, he has the ability to get to the ball carrier or quarterback. As an outside linebacker, he has the tackling ability and athleticism to compete against anyone at any level.

One of the seniors who has really stepped up his game this season and has become one of Miami-Dade’s best is linebacker Jordan Gibbs, a playmaker who is among the top tacklers in South Florida.

But... who else is after these kids and more importantly will they come to fiu?

Joey Corey will watch them... I'm sure he will take good care of the players- he has a lot of experience with that from his time at Miami!!!

Funny how the scum of the earth still find places to get jobs in this country. Joey Corey should be banned from working in college athletics. The guy is freaking tool and wears suits two sizes to big

Can we get rid of PG and give his job to Mario Cristobal? Wouldn't that be epic?

Jordan Budwig: FIU, Georgia State, Western Kentucky
Jordan Gibbs: nobody

They're beyond bottom barrel. FIU is their best offer. Budwig showed interest in USF early on, but it wasn't reciprocated.

I wonder who else fiu will try to offer..
