QB Travis Wright claims offer

Louisville Trinity quarterback Travis Wright claimed on Twitter that FIU offered him one of its remaining 2013 scholarships.

Wright, 6-1, 185, quarterbacked Trinity to three consecutive Class 6A state titles. Last year, he completed 64.2 percent of passes for 3,529 yards and 39 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.

Wright's rated at two stars by Rivals.com and in Rivals top 20 nationally for dual threat quarterbacks. MaxPreps has him as the No. 1 quarterback in Kentucky, No. 11 in the nation. ESPN rates him at three stars. Scout.com and 247Sports don't rate him at all.

Despite a stellar high school career, this is Wright's first offer. I'm not sure why -- nobody I know in Louisville has anything negative to say about him -- but check out this story, done back in September by Sports Illustrated.

dead link.

thank you kind sir

Great story on Wright by SI. Travis enjoyed his visit and posted he would try and walk on at Louisville if FIU didnt offer. I'm surprised the offer came 6 days after NSD.

But it doesnt matter when it came...just that it did. Lets go TW make the commit and get ready to battle. With Travis that would give FIU 4 real QB's.
1. Returning starter and son of a Coach; Jake
2. Former Dade Player of year and Sun Belt all-Frshman; EJ
3. 4 year starter in Pao Pao with good resume as a winner
4. Wright a top 20 dual threat QB with on two loses on this reume...also a four year starter.

Go Panthers.

I think Jake is a very good QB but the gap between him and our 2nd string (which is most likely EJ) is pretty big. If we can keep Jake healthy, and help him with a good running game then we might be able to pull off some points on Offense. The problem is our O-Line is very young and NO EXPERIENCE! That usually results in injuries to the QB, and a weak running game. The season for the offense will come down to the O-Line (again)..

Get some beef on those boys!

Yep and Jake got hurt once for taking on defenders ala Teabow 2011 & a second time going undercenter for a TD in 2012.
Its almost a toss up right now if he can stay healthy for a season with the youngest line in 2 years.

I expect EJ to be much better after having played some in 2012 and on an offense that might be better suited for his style of play...

May the best man win.

I think the gap between Medlock and Hilliard is not as big as people think. Last year, EJ was thrown to the wolves pretty early and against good defenses. Keep in mind he was a true freshmen without any college playing experience yet showed some flashes of what he's capable of. I like his attitude, the kid is a competitor. I think he’s going to benefit tremendously from Turner’s experience and strengths as a QB’s coach. I still see Medlock as the #1 option but I can see him being challenged by EJ, especially if he loses playing time due to another injury.

It's official QB Travis Wright is a Golden Panther.

DJN, did Jucco OT j. Hunter sign with FIU? He was the no. 120 th Juco prospect in th country. Last Juco transfers OT Hauptmann and OG Mack were pretty freaking good.

Welcome T. Wright...I hope Medlock can still be the guy. I love the way he plays the game!

Strange goings on between the Louisville area and Miami.

QB seems like an awesome pickup, short but two inches taller than Russell Wilson.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Aww. I like how Buc is softening up. You can really tell he loves the Panthers and cares about our players.

Way to go, Buc. I knew it all along. Welcome to the family.

I think Buc's initial criticisms about FIU were a response to some of the dumb $h!t that our fans were posting. Bucs been pretty fair and on point with his posts. Unlike the disrespectful idiot UM fans that troll the FIU blogs, I actually appreciate Buc’s outside perspective about our program.
