Possible Comings & Goings, II

If FAU running backs coach Kerry Dixon is on his way south to FIU, as CoachingSearch.com suggests, that would be a guy with experience in recruiting Dade County and with ties in Texas. Neither exactly hurts in recruiting raw talent.

American High safety Andrew Soroh, rated at two or three stars depending on the site, switched his committment from FIU to FAU today, announced via Twitter. As commenter FIU Fanatic pointed out, American High coach Corey Bell has just joined FAU's coaching staff. Bell will be the defensive backs coach at FAU.

Wonder if somebody ever suggested, as Ron Turner was putting together his first staff, that it include Bell or Telly Lockette, now running backs coach at South Florida...

Of course, all this is just conversation until Signing Day.

Soroh's high school at American HS, Corey Bell, has been hired (at least announced) at FAU 2 days ago. Wouldn't surprise me that's ultimately one of the main reasons why he would decommit, and most probably sign with FAU. Oh well... Good luck to Andrew wherever he ends up.

Coach Dixon would be a good pick up for Ron's Staff.

Yeah, you would figure that hiring local coaches like FAU has done, like Willie Taggart did at USF would be a given. But, Ron has to get to know the coaches first. Maybe next year or so he could look into it. For now, I'd like to see Turner give a former FIU standout DB and ST player (also CFL) like Greg Moss a shot.

Good luck to Soroh, but you should always commit to the program and the players. As we have learned, coaches aren't always around for 4 years.

Final three weeks till NSD... #GOPANTHERS

Local? Rob Harley, grad assistant @ Michigan St., to coach LB. is that your understanding also DJN?

Well, that didn't take long, did it? It was to be expected, especially once Soroh's high school coach joined FAU to coach his position. Good for the kid, I guess.

So we get Dixon, formerly from FAU, to coach FIU's running backs. The fact he recruits in Dade County and is familiar with the area is a plus now.

Welcome, Coach Dixon!

When Bell was hired at FAU, I think many saw that coming. Good luck to Andrew! We'll be fine with or without him. Kids I can't wait to see are QB's and WR's we bring in. There will be lots of competition next year.

Go FIU!!!
