Bad Business

Anyone interested in trading six points for one? That's what the Panthers have just done.

Great, very entertaining game. But this one -- third straight game where Cats blow two-goal lead in third - raises a lot of questions. Same questions we've been asking the past three seasons..

Alex Auld was digging the win, no?

this should make us sellers at the deadline.. which we should have been before the penguin game.

after carolina.. we should have known that even if we make the playoffs we give up good pieces for a rental to just lose first round.

we might as well try and trade some guys get some salary back for some maybe young guys that can help now or a couple years if anything.

no better time to trade jokinen no?

NO, never a better time than now to fire the coach though.

Three straight games the twam has 2 goal leads going into the third and 3 straight times they pucker up and choke and puke on the leads. We lit up All Star Tim Thomas for 10 goals in 5 periods yet we get ALEX FREAKING AULD and we sit back and do nothing but chip the puck out of our defensive zone and then sit back and wait for them to come at us again. Time to fire JM as coach not trade Olli!

This team should be sellers but not behind the bench. We've tried the management/coaching swap 20 times in the past 10 years. It's time to change the on-ice product and that starts with our on-ice leader.

Trade Olli and get us an impact player plus first rounder for next year's VERY deep draft.

There's also a variety of VERY good UFAs available after this year. Couple this with the ability to unload more of our non-Martin signings and we can make some real strides.

You will not get anyone equal to Olli's caliber in a trade. The only way a trade would be made is if the Cats were to receive 2 players whose seasonal averages totaled together come close to what Olli produces alone.
Trading Jokinen is a desperate move, and it isn't necessary.
This team is hurting because in the 3rd period, Weiss is on the ice a lot... And where has Weiss been the last couple 3rd periods?
His two way play is what holds this team together in the third. Without Weiss, it's pretty evident that this team just collapses. Too many young players who are still learning game by game won't protect any lead.
No trade... Coaching swap... Maybe... I vote for Joe.

In the Canada papers today the Coach/GM is quoted as saying: "I don't know if they are losing their confidence, we just need better performances from certain people, Some guys are not doing the job right now."

Really, this has been going on for over 3 years now!

This coach does not have a read on his players as a coach (manager) the key to success is knowing your people, what makes them tick, what are their emotions, are you getting the most out of them and if not then why not.

If he doesn't know after 3 years with this group then he will never know.

He plays this dump the puck game and it doesn't work, after the first 2 minutes of the third, it was clear that the team was sitting back call the timeout then and tell them not to sit back and stay aggressive, instead he waits until the game is tied and right before a TV timeout, poor game management.

We need a coach that will light a fire under these guys, Boston outworked us all night and their goalie was off his game yet he sit back and let the other team take control game after game, we are 3 points out of being 15th out of 15 teams.

For the most part this is Martin's team, he has had 3 years as coach and 2 years as GM/Coach, the flyers are able to turn their fortunes around in less than one year and have a great future, we have been waiting 8 years for our future, it will not come with Martin as coach and his style of coaching not to lose (remember Dave Wansteadt every game the fins either won by 3 pts or loss by 3 pts because they played not to lose).

If we have the puck in the offense zone with control as Boston did last night, the other team cannot score, but we play this blind dump the puck out of our zone and we turn the puck over at the blue line game after game, go out be aggressive and play to win the game.

Fire Martin as coach, give him a chance as GM as the farm is being built.

Chuck Kobasew and Zdeno Charo beat are team to a pulp! We have no team toughness and none of our players will crash the net.

umm to fire martin would be completely stupid. the guy is doing the right things as a GM.

jokinen isn't a leader. we should be sellers. we aren't that good... and we can't be buyers becuz even a mildly good player added on won't help this team this year.

this team needs change and instead of all the fans standing by one player they need to stand behind the organization and say hey trading jokenin might bring back more things that will help us now and in the long run

ummmm trade ollie and my season tkts are finished. He's a second line center and with a healthy weiss booth and horton line he fits perfectly. We simply need Martin to move upstairs and stop being the only team in the league with out a full time coach!!!!! Three days the team tolled w/o a leader after the carolina loss why would u expect a different mindset - jm was playing GM... Trading our best player does nothing but hirong a f/t coach does!!!!!

trading Olli would be a huge mistake. JM is a horrible coach with an outdated sytle of play. Olli IS the organization, he's been here through all the "rebuilding phase" and has wanted to stay, not be traded. We need a coach who won't be afraid to use the teams assets. We need a tough guy on the ice,so we don't get thrown around like we did.

If you trade Olli, expect to lose ALOT of Season seat holders and Fans!!!
