MY TAKE: The Panthers road to the postseason, quite honestly, doesn't look all that hard.

The Panthers can probably forget about catching Carolina, what with the Hurricanes having a pretty easy road with four games (eight points) against Tampa and Atlanta. They'll win one of two against Panthers, and that should be that.

Florida has five games against teams with winning records left, five against teams with losing records remaining. That's more than any other team on this list. Carolina and Washington each have four left. The Panthers also have six more home games remaining, tied with Buffalo and Boston for most left.

Washington should also put up a fight, but the Caps' six game roadie from Ap. 18-29 (Nash, Chi, Atl, Car, Tampa, FLA) could be a major concern. Washington finishes with three at the phone booth, so if they stand strong on the road, they should be in very good shape. Don't forget, Panthers and Caps play each other twice; Wash in Sunrise for Panthers' home finale, FLA in DC for regular season finale.

Toronto, bless 'em, have it rough down the stretch, the Islanders on Ap. 18 the only team they play without a winning record. The Leafs can win a few of those games, but they are probably already running on fumes, so it's going to be tough.

Boston, Philly and Buffalo all have rough roads ahead as well. Buffalo and Boston both have just one game left against a non-winning team, Philly plays eight of 11 against teams with winning records.

Going to be fun seeing how this all plays out. Will try to update this every couple of days, spring training days not included.

The ever interesting Panthers March.

It really depends.. if the Panthers can catch a game on carolina and end up 5 points from division, and expecting that we beat Carolina two times of two games, its a 1 point division. It is so possible, the only thing I dont like about 8th spot is Philly having games on us constantly.

I think all we can do is take care of business ourselves!

This weekend if key, win both and we might be ok....lose one and done!

We need to go 9 and 1 which would be 92 points and in that we have to win both games against Carolina and Washington. Carolina would have to go 5 and 5 which would mean losing the 2 games to us, the 2 games to Washington and against Ottawa.

This is not likely to happen. (this would make the Washington/Panther game the game for the SE Division crown).

The more likely scene would be to pass Buffalo/Boston and Philadelphia. Again if the Panthers go 9 and 1 (92 points), Boston would have to go 5-5 and 1 for 91 points.

Philadelphia would have to go 6 and 5 for 91 points.

Buffalo would have to go 8 and 3 or worse (91 points).

It appears clear that 92 points will be needed to make the playoffs

The Panthers would have to finish with a 14 and 1 record. Not very likely.

Again, this team just needs to look at the Carolina and Boston games that they blew. If they had won those 2 games they would have 3 points more.

They would only be 2 points behind Carolina and 1 point behind Boston.

At the same time Philadelphia could say that they blew a point against the Panthers.

It is just another March where this team teases the fans by getting close.

JM still needs to go, our minor league system has gone from a A rating to a C+ rating putting us near the bottom of the list. Also, if you look at the draft history we are a minus 12 based on where we drafted and where we are rated, this is near the bottom of the league as well.

Until this organization builds up a minor league system, we will continue to struggle to make the playoffs (going on 8 years and counting).

Hopefully, Cohen will not go with the name this time and will hire the best person available.

Yeah, cause Kreps, Booth and Campbell are just horrible pieces to come out of your Minor league system.....

But seriously... i'm not saying our system is amazing or anything, but if it weren't for some of our depth, we'd be wayyy out of contention this year. Look at the amount of injuries. 2nd most in the NHL in man-games lost (i believe) and yet we're 5 points out. that says something for the guys who came in to replace the starters.
