Heading East

MuppetsCALGARY -- Well, it's been one interesting trip to western Canada, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.

Been here since Monday, so it's time to start heading in the right direction. The Panthers charter has already left for Montreal; half of the team is in Prince Edward Island for tonight's game against the Islanders. The other half will stay in Montreal tonight and play the Canadiens tomorrow.

We're done with this leg of the trip as everyone heads home -- or to Rochester -- on Monday.

Because of travel and financial constraints, I will not be in PEI tonight so there will be no LIVE! updates from the Islanders game. I will be missing the action same as everyone else. But, I will return Sunday with a special Montreal edition.

-- Peter DeBoer's first comment on Friday's 8-2 loss at Calgary: "Burn the tape.'' Can't do much evaluation when the team quits like they did, but hey, it's been a long trip. Pete DeB said he never thought about pulling Tomas Vokoun because he knew Tomas wanted to stay in there. It was ugly though. Florida should be a little more competitive in Montreal as Pete is putting together mostly veterans for this one.

-- Todd Bertuzzi named last night's first star of the game.

Better hope Vokoun gets this out of his system before the season start... not that our team should bail on him like that... but I mean that if you remember his last seasons start... and his previous season in Nashville... and the year before that... he starts his GAA off at like 6.00+.
