Down to Rochester -- UPDATED

Just got word from the Panthers that Stephen Weiss, Radek Dvorak and David Booth have been activated, with Shawn Matthias -- and not Michael Frolik -- headed to Rochester.

May have another roster move tomorrow, but you never know.

Here is my advance for tomorrow's game..

strongly disagree. Would have released Peltonin. Mathias is ready and we need his energy and upside potential from day one for quick start.

Also would have committed to a captain , any of the four mentioned fine.

Team reminds me a little of 90s devils..(yes I know vokun is not brodeur) Let's see and drop the puck

in -- Peltonen had a fantastic preseason. Matthias and Frolik didn't upstage him with their play, especially not enough to release him outright. He'd have to (I think) first clear waivers, and then be paid his compensation for having an SPC terminated.

GR-- The local writer in Rochester (Kevin Oklobzija) threw out an update a few minutes ago that it's only Matthias en route to the Amerks. Any word on if that's accurate..? And if it is, who's the quesiton mark here for opening night?

I'm ambivalent about this move. However, the AHL has been a great place for players to get their feet wet and who's not to say Frolik and Matthias won't be up here after some strong play like Kreps last year?

I would have to agree that Peltonen had a fantastic preseason. He was injured for much of last season if he is healthy he could be a solid player... I like Matthias and Frolik but the fact is others have played better than them... Last year Kreps was a huge surprise, great in faceoffs. Kreps last year was one of the better players. He's a keeper... Thanks GR for the updates. You are the must see page when I logon.

I think it is better for them to be at the AHL level getting minutes instead of playing a few minutes with the big club.

Ken Holland said with young players they develop better if they get at least one year in the AHL,

Hopefully this is a sign that we are finally developing players the right way

I agree with letting Matthias and Frolik start in the minors. Let them get a taste and feel for the pro game and if they tear it up they will get their callups. If the Panthers have done anything consistently over the past few years, it's get injured.

Whatever. They'll be up sooner rather than later. They'll get their chance.

I hope Anthony Stewart plays with passion and starts making a postive difference!
