RALEIGH -- Opening Night just a few short hours away. Panthers took to the ice this morning, the Whalercanes deciding to take the morning off. They have a game in Tampa Bay tomorrow night (going head-to-head with Game 2 of the RayLCS) and must have thought 30 minutes off the ice would help them out.
Nothing major going down, other than Pete DeBoer saying Tomas Vokoun will start both tonight and tomorrow at home against the Thrashers. Tonight's healthy scratches: Noah Welch, Anthony Stewart and Michael Frolik. So, yeah, Cory Murphy clears waivers one day, in the lineup another. PDeB says Murph deserves to play. So he has that going for him, which is nice.
Tonight's lines:
Stillman-Horton-Olesz
Zednik-Weiss-Booth
Belak-Kreps-Peltonen
Campbell-McLean-Dvorak
The D:
Allen-Bouwmeester
Ballard-Boynton
Murphy-McCabe
The G:
Vokun
Richards

Hey George... are you sure those lines are legit??? Like... why would Belak be on the 3rd line... much less the 4th line? And why was Frolik scratched? He better be playin tomorrow.

I was just watching practice, guessing that the horton line is one, although the weiss line could start...but you're right; the belak line is probably four...those are the pairings tho...

George... any idea why Stewart is a scratch after such a great camp? Makes more sense to me to get him the lineup and continue his momentum.

Aight thanks George... I found that a bit peculiar having Belak on the 4th line haha.

I hope nothing happens to Vokoun since I'm not so sure about this guy Richards that we have backing him up ;)

Lets just hope the refs don't let the Us olympic diving squad err i mean the carolina hurricanes dive there way to powerplays like the last time we played them and we had like 13 penaltys

George:
An admittedly unreliable source, Ecklund at Hockeybuzz reports that a Flyer trade for a D-man fell through, because of a health issue. Any chance that Martin has been in negotiations to trade Skarstins to Phili?
