Tomas Vokoun: NHL Second Star

Vokoun4 BOSTON -- Florida goalie Tomas Vokoun was honored by the NHL today, being named the Second Star of the Week after recording two shutouts. He has two in the past three games and three in six games.

Vokoun also has pitched six shutouts this season -- a career high. He had five in his final season with Nashville. Vokoun is the third Panther to be honored this season, joining David Booth and Gregory Campbell.

Philly's Mike Richards was the top star after leading all NHL scorers with eight points (three) goals. Chicago's Cristobal Huet, who beat the Panthers on Thursday, was the third star.

Vokoun stopped 115 of 118 shots this past week, giving up three to the Blackhawks. It was a pretty impressive week. As we told you earlier, he missed practice today because of the flu. He's questionable for tomorrow. It's time for Craig Anderson to get a start, but it's real tough to pull a goalie as hot as Vokoun is right now.
