This comes right from the Panthers. Have nothing really more to add...
Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that the club has signed undrafted free agent G Alexander Salák to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Salák is a talented, young goaltender who has played very well while developing his skills and competing in Europe,” said Martin. “He will attend our development camp next week and we look forward to his continued growth and production within our organization.”
Salák
22, played in 53 games for TPS Turku (FIN) this season posting a
20-20-9 mark with a 2.40 GAA and a .923 save percentage. While playing for TPS
Turku he was coached by Urpo Ylönen
who has coached former TPS Turku goalies such as Miikka Kiprusoff
and Antero Niittymäki.
The Strakonice, Czech Republic native, played for Budějovice (2002-2006) on their U-18 and U-20 teams, before signing in Finland, prior to the start of the 2007-08 season.

The question is, is he bound for Rochester or Sunrise this season?

Def rochester. Listen we all know in at least 2 years Markstrom will be here and be the number one goalie. We are just trying to get some security cause lord knows our goalies in the minors are horrible. But then again goalie seems to be the most revolving door in hockey. Either way i love Jacob but i hope he matures some as he has a way to let his drama or attitude get in the way when he should just let his play speak. George btw hope your doing well. i want your opinion on any of the free agents the panthers could get this season if any. Hope all you panther fans are doing well and can't wait till next year GO CATS!!

What does all this mean with respect to our current tandem?
George- how are negotiations with RFA David Booth? What's the deal-e-o?

Salak will probably be our backup next year.
At least, thats what this looks like to me.

It's hard to imagine they're bringing this guy in just for laughs. But with 4 goalies last year in Rochester, none really look like future starters, but they're all young. And Markstrom still has a year left in Sweden. So... maybe there's something outside this Salak character's numbers that Martin and Co. like. With the vokoun\andy situation up in the air, I guess it can't hurt to bring another goalie to the D-camp.

Holy Jokinen. Boy are you dumb!!

it absolutely cannot hurt...at his age though, I don't see him being a viable no. 2...maybe the panthers think otherwise...I would think this is a depth signing, hoping to see something down the road...DeBo liked having two true options in net, and I think you're going to see some sort of veteran back there -- maybe even Andy, but...
