Doesn't he still own a home in South Florida? And what have you heard about the sale falling apart as reported on the Hot Stove last night, George?

I would be surprised if they didn't interview several people, including Rick Dudley. My hope is they hire Red Wings Assistant General manager Jim Nill.

Absolutely Dudley should be hired. Look at how well the team has done after he started the rebuilding effort! All of the draft picks have turned out well and the team is sitting in 9th place compared to 15th place in 2002! How can you argue against that progress?

Sorry for the sarcasm but Rick Dudley is a heck of a head scout or assistant GM. He is not a good GM.

And I doubt Jim Nill is coming to Florida because 1) Detroit would have to give permissions and 2) Nill would probably have to take a pay cut to take the Panthers job since the Wings pay their front office guys so well.

Keep up the good work George.

The org wouldnt be doing their job if they didnt interview candidates. I wouldnt get my panties in a bunch just yet until he's named a finalist. And depending upon the sale of the team, it could be a very short tenure as GM anyway.

Didn't we learn from bringing Keenan back? Ugh...

dudley sucks donkey balls

Good point- ownership should interview many candidates before choosing a successor.

Tommy Bahamas, don't be stupid dude!

answer this if dudley is a major part of the latest blackhawks sucess. who bright idea was it to sign brian campbell and huet to such outragous contracts? if this is what hes going to offer the panthers i say na

Horton over Staal do we need to say more

Dudley still lives in Coral Springs and he was a failure when he was here. I know for a fact that the players could not wait till he was gone as they were fed up with the inconsistency. I have an idea why not gid rid of Yormark and his salary so they could lure someone great for the GM position???

How can Neil Smith be a candidate.Keenan got Rangers that Cup and Smith hasnt done anything in 15 years. Doesnt work anywhere. No one even interviews him, he's so messed up. Such a joke.

No Dudley again please and I don't give a crap who Bouwmeister or the Sun-Sentinel retards want- a GM's worth is showing from day one: Dudley got Mezei, Biron and tried two buddies coaches and switched everything a million times....Doug got Nash !

Amen-go with McLean, he's a self made guy, intense all the time not just at the job interview !

Season Ticket Holder, if you remember the history of that draft, you should know it was Keenan who insisted on getting Horton and Stewart to Cohen, when Dudley was looking to trade for lower picks. He had an offer for Philly's two first rounders and a second that year, but was tryin to get Pitkanen included in the deal for the right to draft first overall. And who were those picks? Jeff Carter, Mike Richards (one pick ahead of Stewart and Stewart cost two high second round picks), and Maxim Lapierre (pick was traded to Montreal). If Dudley would have gotten the Philly picks instead of the insurance of gettin Horton, he'd have had three additional picks in the first two rounds in possibly the deepest draft in history.

There's more to blame during Dudley's tenure on the presence of Keenan being here, than people truly lay fault with. At least the team improved each year in the points, without fudging numbers.

And back then, many Panther fans on HfBoards wanted Horton cause he said his favorite team was the Panthers. So put the blame where it truly belongs. Dudley's only fault was he was too loyal to his own guys.

If no one paid attention to Columbus when MacLean was there, I love the man as a coach, but he couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag as the GM up there.

Michael Yormark and Pedro Goncalves are D-Bags. They are awful at what they do. Pedro is so far up Yormarks rear. I hope Yormark gets canned and same with Pedro so they can move in together and make it offical.

Denis Potvin...who knows the game and league better than him...he's always been a winner and was always a leader.

Scotty Bowman

Saw somewhere that Scott Mellanby is a potential choice.
