We're going to have our first hockey chat of the regular season tonight around 7 p.m. Don't know how long it will go, but that will be up to you all.
If you want to get your questions in early, feel free to leave them in the comment section below or log into the CoverItLive system. Your question won't show up initially because I would have to approve it. As long as it's clean, I will. Don't worry about that.
(The live coverage will display below. Press the play button to launch. It may take up to a minute to load.)

where do the panthers rank in scouting trips/spending as compared to the rest of the league?

Hi George -- I am a huge fan and check out OFP 3-5 times per day :) - has ANYONE in the organization talked about finally replacing Belak in the heavyweight role? I have seen and played enough hockey to know just how much room a guy like that on the bench can open up -- and how much confidence he can inspire in a team. I am not saying that is all that is needed, not at all, but I do think it is a good starting point.

George,
In your opinion, what can/must the Panthers do to change the perception that that they are a soft team?

I can answer that for you Jim. Get ownership that truly wants to win.

Denny Potvin on the NHL channel tonight. Good to see him back in action. Wonder if he is staying as an anaylst full time?

Sexton's quote from yesterday makes me feel a little better that they are going to do something, "We're building this team. This is not the team you're going to see at the end of the year and not the team you're going to see next year," he said. "Clearly, team toughness is something we want to get to."
At least Sexton is starting to realize what we all know, This team is full of wannabe overpriced overpaid AHL players, These guys play with no heart!

GR,
Can you find out when Scott Luce was hired? I did a google search, and believe that he was hired sometime around 2003 by Dudley? Is that right???

Hopefully you'll be asking the questions to our new GM Randy Sexton:
Since about 75-80% of the fan base now is sick of watching Horton's lazy game, why don't we look to dish him??
or maybe a more politically correct version...
The majority of fans CONSTANTLY question Horton's play and willingness to hustle, so isn't it long overdue to look at trading some of these so-called assets to give the team a new look and identity??

"We're building this team. This is not the team you're going to see at the end of the year and not the team you're going to see next year"
If Sexton means it, and I hope he does, his approval rating just rose with me. Let's hope he has the 'grapes' to follow through!

Why is Horton still on this team??? It's time to trade our core, Get Weiss out, Get Horton out, Get Olesz out. Bring in some quality guys, I'm tired of this team.

I said this last night and I'll say it again. This team's motto needs to be "HIT or SIT". If you don't follow through on a legal check, you sit a shift, you get another chance and you don't follow through with a check, you sit the rest of the period. Panthers are you listening ---HIT or SIT !!!!!!

how about Vokoun for Price, maybe JM the former GM can make the same mistake twice.
How about bringing in a great hockey mind to run the hockey side of this organization Igor Larionov would be a perfect fit and bring instant credibility to this organization

I believe that's correct. He started with the team in '98 and was appointed head scout in 2002. Rick Dudley played with his father, Don, in Buffalo in the 70's and brought him along from TB when he came here.

Usually you're not that far off, but this stuff is nutty. I suggest we actually give Sexton a chance to sink or swim. Much like in economics, changes to the system can take a while to have an effect.
If he can either a) manage the impossible and get that puke Horton to play or b) move Horton and Vokoun in deals that return both value AND cap space; he will be on the right track.
So far, despite the nature of the goals, (mostly garbage) Reinprecht has been working out as has (with the exception of a few bad shifts) Dom Moore.
I still think Clemmenson can be a starter for us but we have to be a much better team in front of him.

Thanks Dirk Diggler :)
Last nights game......Time to call out the goats... Why do the below not have a single shot on net in last night's loss? When they are out there for that amount of time?
Keith Ballard 16:42
Dennis Seidenberg 21:24
Bryan Allen 12:42
Ville Koistinen 08:36

I guess I need to clear up my prior post, Montreal is looking to move Price, his contract is less than Vokoun and he is younger and a change of scenery might help him.
As far as Larionov I was looking more of a position that John Davidson has with St. Louis than as the GM, I am willing to give Sexton the chance but you have to look at his history he was brought here because JM the GM couldn't both coach and be the GM, JM brought him here, he had been out of hockey a real long time after Ottawa canned him.
I think we need someone other than Yormark making the hiring decisions on the hockey side that you need someone above the GM in today's NHL and this organization needs credibility

Im glad Michael Yormark is such a classy guy, Standing for the National Anthem is too much for him i guess. What a jerk...
