We are in for a long long year.Slow defenceman and lack of scoring with Peltonen and Zednick plus Skraskins not there to block shots. We resembled an AHL team tonite.I can see why they lowered the ticket prices to prevent a revolt with this kind of product.Only good thing is we may get the 1st pick in the draft.

I'm not ready to jump off the bandwagon yet. Every team loses 7-2 at some point of the year. All the team has to do is avoid the dumb mistakes that led to the first 4 goals.
I had forgotten how much fun it was to be angry with Brian Allen though. What the heck was he doing on the 4th goal? He was at the Carolina blueline when they turned the puck over.
It was tough to watch but they will bounce back.
As for comparing Vokoun and Anderson's stats, when you think about the number of shots and quality chances Vokoun has faced, and the small sample size I wouldn't worry about it just yet.

Mental mistakes can kill a team. Panthers got to wake up for tonight's homeopener.

Unfortunately, this team is going nowhere this year. When they canned Denis Potvin, you just knew that it was all down hill from there. Frankly, this ownership group deserves a losing team and it deserves to lose fans. They've lost me.

Vokoun is a bum... We should have traded him for whatever we could get and resigned Anderson...
Of course if we would have traded Vokoun he probaly would become a hall of famer... Oh well, here's to a decade without a playoff appearance

Best case scenario would be for Capt McCabe to man up and take this one for the team.. He made the unnecessary gamble in his own zone that started it all off...Then is snowballed from there...It probably was going to happen anyhow, so Capt could make a statement admitting guilt, put it behind them, and move on from there...
Maybe easier said than done, but I think he might earn some respect...I believe he is a bit of a gambling D-man, but shouldn't be in his own end...Other than that, Allen and his -5 night might want to swallow a pill or 2 as well...

I was a proponent for keeping Andy over Vokoun, and the Avs have a much younger defense than we do. No McCabes on that team - their best d-man is Liles, an offensive defenseman, yet they've beaten Vancouver and SJ and lost a heartbreaker to Nashville on the road in the 3rd. I think our D has played like crap and our forwards do not grasp back-checking, even though they got a clinic from the Blackhawks in that 2nd game.
The team won't spend to get some real talent, gives multi-year deals to mediocre talent in the hopes they become top players, and sells us the same load of crap year after year about the young guys growing and improving. I never thought I'd miss Bure, but at least we were an exciting team to watch (and made the playoffs). I don't even care about competing for the Cup anymore, I just want to enjoy watching the Panthers again...
I think we're going to see how Allen benefitted from playing with JayBo and how mediocre he is without Jay.
