The Panthers Have Their Man: Jonathan Huberdeau

Huber11 ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Panthers ended up keeping the third overall pick on Friday night and took talented center Jonathan Huberdeau with the selection.

Huberdeau, whom you can read more about right here, was the MVP of the 2011 Memorial Cup as he had three goals for St. John's.

Will he be here next year? Time will tell. He'll get the shot and the Panthers could use his contract to help fill out that $30 million.

Last year, Huberdeau scored 43 goals with 62 assists in 67 games for the Sea Dogs.

YESSS! this guy is going to be a star for us, uber-skilled center = exactly what we needed!! will eventually take away first line responsibility from weiss and lead our offense for years to come :D

any chance of trading up for another 1st round pick?

the future is bright...a great center and no Deboer....

Brian Campbell to the Panthers is being talked about! This would be unbelievable!! :D

CAMBELL FOR OLESZ!?!?! Is this bizarro world?????

AND olesz with his dumbass contract going the other way! how has tallon pulled this off!? please say this goes through!!

Gallon spent some time with Pat Riley;)

Tallon not Gallon! Frickin auto spell!

Chicago needs cap space to sign their stars, so the move makes sense for them. We inherit a cap hit of 7+ mil a year for 5 years, but lose about 3 mil a year for 3 years with Rusty leaving.

Chicago turned around Frolik, they believe they can do the same with Olesz. Olesz is talented but never could do anything for any length of time here. This is a good trade for both teams for different reasons, and look for Rusty to shine in Chicago.

Yes the deal looks lopsided but it had to. Campbell's cap hit is huge and that pretty much makes up for why it looks so lopsided.

Great trade, best I've seen since they got Bure. Campbell and Kulikov on the PP at the point is going to be great to watch. The Panthers D has the potential of being on of the best in the NHL. They need to SIGN GUDBRANSON and get the wheels rolling. Obviously Huberdeau is going back to juniors so that means Tallon needs to make a splash in FA to get some scoring on this team. Also they need to figure out what they are doing in goal. Is Markstrom ready?

This is a great day for Panther fans especially the ones that have been suffering since 2000-2001 and the die hards. They made a great pick in the 3rd slot and traded Olesz (probably the most hated Panther, 7th overall selection that can't break the 30 point barrier) for Brian Campbell who is still in his prime and is actually very good on defense.

I always bash the moves this organization makes but today I'm all smiles.
