Olesz, the seventh overall pick of the 2004 draft by Mike Keenan, was traded to Chicago in June for defenseman Brian Campbell.
Olesz was scratched for Thursday's game, his eighth straight benching and ninth in the past 11 games. Campbell, meanwhile, leads all Panthers in ice time and came into the game tied for the team lead in points with 11.
Michael Frolik, traded for Jack Skille in February, has fared much better for Chicago as he came into the game with two goals and six points through the first 11 games.
-- Defenseman Erik Gudbranson was a healthy scratch for the first time in his hockey career on Thursday as Keaton Ellerby was back in the lineup for the first time since Oct. 20.
“I'm 19, I knew this was going to happen eventually,'' said Gudbranson, the third overall pick of the 2010 draft.
“Ellerby is playing well. I'm forcing things too much. [Dineen] told me to use this as a learning experience and that's what I'm doing.''
