Florida Panthers Notebook: Robb Tallas Newest U.S. Citizen ... Mikael Samuelsson Skates in Coral Springs

Goalie coach Robb Tallas didn't fly with the team to Canada on Monday but instead met the team before Tuesday's game.

Tallas had a good reason: He became a citizen of the United States on Tuesday morning in Oakland Park.

TallasTallas, a native of Vancouver who lives in Coral Springs, said the process was long but “completely worth it.'' Panthers general manager Dale Tallon, a native of Quebec, has been a U.S. Citizen since 1993.

"Hello there, fellow American,'' Tallas said to an unnamed Miami Herald reporter in the Toronto press box on Tuesday. "Nice to join you.''

-- Injured winger Mikael Samuelsson didn't travel with the Panthers to Canada this week as he continues his rehabilitation after having complications from a sports hernia surgery he underwent last May.

Samuelsson came to the Panthers in the David Booth trade on Oct. 22 but has yet to play. Samuelsson skated for the first time since joining the Panthers on Tuesday in Coral Springs.

So who goes down when Sameulsson returns...?

Samuelsson will definitely add depth, assuming he's at 100% upon his return. Who goes down? Matthias has looked alright, as has Bergenheim. Not a fan of Mucho Suckorelli - but hes a center. Bradley isnt much of a fighter; but, hes an energy guy who's laid some MASSIVE hits this year. Upshall's been disappearing. Sturm's skating great. I'd take Samuellson over Skille.

Weiss has been very good - blocking timely shots!

Great question, I think Matthais may be the only one with a two-way contract, anyone else know who else?, and can be sent down w/o clearing waivers. If that is the case and they don't want to carry an extra forward, then it may be him b/c of that.

Matthais you see the moves and the skating ability but just not sure when he is finally going to be as good as he was originally hyped.

Bradley seems to be reliable but if he does have a two way contract, perhaps a candidate as well. Santorelli is still settling in and I wouldn't write him off yet. I agree on Upshall, where is this guy as you don't even notice him on the ice or hear his name being called much.

Samuelsson is the next Chad Kilger. Don't expect to see him in the lineup at all this season. He's going to be on IR all year until he is either traded or waived.

Matthias is actually playing great, why send him down? Upshall is the worst player on the roster, they should trade his sorry ass for picks and continue building for the future. Upshall is not the future. Frankly, he's a waste of money and a horrible off season signing by Tallon.

agree out of all the contracts tallon handed out upshall and jovo are going to be the negatives for sure upshall just wanted to sign here for spring break hes so brutal im glad dadnov coming up for him
