The Panthers will likely have to bring up another forward from AHL San Antonio with Sean Bergenheim out with an apparent groin injury.
Bergenheim, who was playing banged up, had three goals in his past two games.
“It's a huge loss the way he's been playing,'' coach Kevin Dineen said. “That's the game. We play a hard game and that leads to casualties. We have to manage our team a bit and do a good job on days off to be as strong as we can.''
-- Forward Greg Rallo played just four shifts in his NHL debut, the 30-year-old arriving from Texas on Saturday.
Rallo said he was told of his NHL recall after Jack Skille was hurt Friday night allowing friends and family to book flights from Chicago and Alberta to be at Sunday's game. Rallo estimated a dozen made the trip.
“It's been a crazy couple of days. The family is really excited. This is a really big deal,'' he said before the game. “They spared no cost. They got here right away.''
