PANTHERS NOTEBOOK: Mueller Returns to Lineup ... Theodore Done, Jovo Says Hello

Peter Mueller was back in the lineup after his wife Taylar gave birth to their first child, a son named Charlie.

Mueller missed the four game road trip after returning home as the baby wasn't allowed to come home immediately.

"Everything is good, everyone is back home,'' Mueller said.

"The doctors and nurses were great. I got no sleep for a couple of days.''

-- Goalie Jose Theodore worked out on the ice before Florida's morning skate Tuesday but it doesn't look like he'll play in another game this season.

Theodore has been out since tearing two groin muscles at Carolina March 2.

-- Captain Ed Jovanovski visited the locker room following Tuesday's win.

Jovanovski had major hip surgery on April 5 and said he has no timetable for a return.

"I'm feeling great, going through therapy and am doing everything to make it stronger,'' Jovanovski said.

"It's responding well. So far, so good. No setbacks. It's no secret the surgery I had was pretty aggressive. I just want to do things properly.''

You think Jovo will return next year? Not sure he wants to, and not sure he'll be effective even if he did return.

Come draft day it will be a tough choice since Panthers need defense and offense. However if you tie a record for least shots in a period then maybe you go with the all-star center. The choice of Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin is like deciding do you want Nicklas Lidström, Sidney Crosby or Martin St. Louis. I think I go with the top center but I can see people going with the top D. Panthers have had a history of not being able to score, time to get some scoring. I heard it before you need the defenseman and they took Jay Bouwmeester over Rick Nash. In retrospect they should have taken Nash. Maybe they need to take Nathan MacKinnon this time.

and they took Jovo over Bonk so the dman was the right choice then.

Bill Torrey always said take the d over the forwards, he took a guy named Denis Potvin over Tom Lysiak and Dennis Ververgaert both forwards

If they have the choice I believe it will be Jones

you're an idiot if ou compare those 3 players to Lidstrom,Crosby and St Louis

I'll be happy with either Jones or McKinnon. I think both have All Star potential. Glad this year's crop has high end talent...much different feel than this year's NFL Draft.

1) Defensemen are notorius for taking a long time to develop. 2) The Panthers have had trouble getting scoring since 1993 (except Bure) 3) Do the Panthers have the time to wait for Jones to develop? 4) Since Bjugstad or Howden has shown no scoring ability so far (that may change) I think they should get a scorer. Are we still headed in the right direction?

Jones is closer to Lidstrom than McKinnon/Crosby Drouin/St. Louis. In fact St. Louis wasn't close to being St. Louis for four seasons before he made it to Tampa. As much as I want Offense, I think Jones would make some of our other D-men (Kulikov, Guddy) tradeable assets for snipers (Etem, Saad, Ryan).

Now we can lose 2-0 or 2-1
