Quick update before I leave the press box. I didn't have a chance to ask the question, but as was related me by a Florida State SID, Jimbo Fisher was asked about the absence of Chris Casher and Mario Edwards as he left the press conference on Saturday night and told a reporter from the Tampa Tribune that the two highly-touted freshmen are likely to redshirt unless otherwise called upon.
Casher was a high profile pull from Alabama while Edwards was the consensus top recruit in the nation coming out of Texas.
Neither is on the two-deep depth chart. Brandon Jenkins and Bjoern Werner form an elite pair of starting ends while Tank Carradine is fast proving to be of a similar caliber and by all accounts Giorgio Newberry has come on lately.
Of course, Brandon Jenkins did leave the game with a "foot contusion" in the first half of Florida State's 69-3 win over the Murray State Racers, but X-Rays came back negative and he's considered day to day.
If Jenkins is out any extended period, we may see one of the freshmen, likely Edwards, suit up.
Otherwise, it may not be until 2013 that they see the field for the first time.
