FSU Backup QB Jacob Coker Out After Injuring Meniscus

Jacob Coker is out indefinitely after injuring his meniscus against Wake Forest on Saturday. The redshirt sophomore QB will have surgery on his knee tomorrow and there is currently no timetable for his return.

Sean Maguire will take over as the Seminoles' backup quarterback.

Coker had battled Jameis Winston -- who has gone on to become a Heisman contender -- through last Spring and Summer but was beaten out by the redshirt freshman a couple weeks before the start of the season.

On the year Coker was 18/36 for 250 yards and a pick through seven games. Those numbers are a bit misleading though. Coker played with the Seminoles' second unit, behind a young offensive line comprised of true freshmen and walk-ons and surrounded by underclassmen at the skill positions.

Maguire -- another redshirt freshman -- has played in give games, going 1/2 for 11 yards.
