Loved the video Frugalista!
Did you really haggle over a $2 item??? LOL but hey you got what you wanted for a lower price, you are really good at this.
And your hair looked great.

You look good Nat! That will keep you warm on your next NYC trip. Is that the new frugal theme music?

My weekends usually go something like this. I'll be driving to a planned destination (i.e. mall, park or friend's house) and suddenly I'll see the words that usually make me hit the brakes. Garage Sale. I buy only what I think I'll use (usually CDs, DVDs or other non-clutter item). The sweater looked good. Truly a Good buy!

Love it! You got a 25% markdown on a great sweater. And I think I'm starting to like the vids more than the words. You look great, too!

PJD-Thanks for the kind words. And yes, I haggled because I know how the readers get about spending money!
Coco-Yeah, girl. That music sounds frugalistic, no? I think I'm going to start saying "SHAZAAM!"
Jasmine-Thanks
Lou-Glad you liked the video...Will work on the writing! :)

Holy moly!! gurl, I can't believe you hustle a $2 sweater down to $1.50

You sure it wasn't staged???????? LOL

I enjoy your blog and videos. I, too, frequent garage sales and have found people get rid of things that are practically new for pennies...I love it!!

Sorry, I just don't think it was right of you to haggle that sweater down. You say you have bills to pay -- well so does everyone. And it's just 50 cents. All that did was insult the lady who was already practically giving it away. That's why I hate garage sales. People want everything for free. Garage sales are already dirt cheap. Even if it's a dime, they'll haggle it to a nickel.

I can understand the haggle if it was $10. But $2?

People are better off donating their things to Goodwill than dealing with people who haggle for pennies.

A for effort, LOL...gotta get those discounts anyway possible!

Why not haggle for an extra fifty cents? If you are throwing a garage sale, this is what you have to be ready for, the bargain hunters. If you don't want to sell it, then don't. There's nothing wrong with people asking. Times are tough..

I love your blog. I'm 37 and have $72,000 in the bank and I make 17.20/hr. I don't live too frugal, I like to be fabulous too...but I can be pretty cheap sometimes. I drive a nice car and own my own home. I go out to dinner with friends often. But I refuse to split the bill evenly when I've only had a salad or when I've only had one drink. I don't care if I get the rep of being "cheap"..I have basic cable. I get my movies from the library. I know my friends don't have the kind of savings I do. I watch them throw away money sometimes and it makes me mad, but I don't want to be the "preacher". Keep up the good work Fruga. I love the movies, too, very fun to watch.

I could have gotten her down to $1.00 on that sweater. Fruga, anytime you want to have a haggling day, I could challenge you and I would win. I've gotten DKNY sunglasses for $3.00, a playstation w/5 games for my kids for $12.00 (practically new), fishing poles for my husband for a steal. Last year, I got my husband a new laptop from someone on Craigslist and I got it 25% lower than they had listed it for. It's like a sport for me. It can be done in the stores too, you know. If something's got a minor defect, like missing a button..you can speak to the manager and get it for less. I've done it. Keep up the good work, this is a great website.

Savuh's my new role model.

You go Girl! $.50 adds up, up, & up; I also haggle even at Dept Stores if I see any imperfection...doesn't hurt to ask, because they can always say No.
