Stamp Price Increase Starts Monday

Forever_stamp Aw man. The price of stamps are going up yet again. I'm mini vexed about this. Why must this happen? First food, now stamps? I pay most of my bills online but not all. My checks cost $20 to order, too. I'm thinking this last stamp price increase may send me to online bill pay through my bank.  I was hesitant to sign up for it through the bank because I felt like it would wed me to the instituion. But, going to several sites just to pay my bills is worrisome, too. I'm going to stick it to the man! No more mail for me. I'm e-billing.

Do you pay your bills online? How much do you think that saves you? What do you think about stamps going up? Does the U.S. Postal Service need to realize that stamps are so, so, out of style?

I've been using online billpay through my bank for about 6 years. I despise checks...they are a pain in the butt! I have one a month I write for child support, but that's only because the recipient refuses to use Paypal. I prefer it because I HATE waiting for money to go out of my bank account.

How much does it save me? Meh, probably not a lot....but it saves me A LOT of time every month!

There are only 3 bills I don't pay online...my rent, my parking and my mortgage. Wachovia had a special this month that if you signed up two bills to be paid through bill pay they would put $10 in your account. So I decided to try with the parking bill and a credit card. I normally go to each credit card site to pay the bill. I tried it and the only success was the credit card payment. The parking bill they are now saying I didn't pay and that the payment must have been lost. I'm sure overall online bill paying works. But if you have bills that don't offer online bill payment using your banks online bill payment program might not work either.

I'm old-school. I don't know when I'll switch to online bill pay. I need incentive. I wonder if Wachovia is still offering the $10.

I don't use bill pay with my bank, but I do pay my credit card bills (that I'm paying OFF). To me, a check is like paying cash - I know where the money went, and how much I have left.

To me, it's a question of how you are comfortable budgeting your money - cash or credit card.

Yes, I know some people think I'm kind of old fashioned for still using a check, but I must use checks to pay my rent. I don't mind paying bills online, but I end up visiting too many sites. I'll just blame my need for ebilling on going green. I'm just not happy with the price of stamps going up.

I use online bill pay (my bank and company websites) almost exclusively. I can't remember the last time I wrote a check. I'm not sure how much I save (probably not that much) but it's a matter of convenience. I can pay bills whenever and wherever I want, even when I'm traveling. Also, I can setup payments well in advance and forget about it. This comes in handy when traveling as well.

Can't remember the last time I wrote a check. Even for companies not in my bank's online system, (like my landlord) I enter the payment online and my bank mails them a physical check. I don't know how the postage on that gets paid - I don't ask.

I am old fashioned also but i will pay a bill online from time to time. I can not believe the price of stamps will go up again! Thanks for keeping us informed oh frugal one. have a great weekend.

We have used a credit card for bills. We send bills to this one card that is paid off every month. The dish, the cell, the internet, etc., go to this card, which we pay online. It keeps things simple. Oh, and we get those rewards points, We signed up for the rewards program when it was offered free. Those $50 or $100 steak house cards are so frugal.
