John Brown practices; Lorenzo Edwards moves to linebacker

GAINESVILLE -- The freshmen practiced today. It was hot. Just a few quick notes before I head back out to watch the veterans take the practice field for the first time. The Gators' evening practice begins at 7:40.

-Defensive tackle John Brown practiced today but he has not been officially cleared by the NCAA. A two-week window allows Brown to practice with the team before the NCAA Clearinghouse determines if Brown is eligible to join the team permanently. Brown has spent this summer in the classroom and, understandably, appears a bit out of shape compared to the rest of the freshmen.

-Freshman defender Lorenzo Edwards has been moved to linebacker. Edwards (6-2, 221 pounds) was recruited as a safety.

-Freshman running back Bo Williams (Oakland Park Northeast) limped through practice. He is still recovering from an ankle injury.

-Freshman wide receiver Christopher Jones was the only player without a number today. He drew attention to himself after several impressive catches.
