Pregame notes: Basketball players honored, get rings

GAINESVILLE -- The Gators' latest national championship team, the hoops squad, received its championship rings today at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium before kickoff of Tennessee vs. Florida.

Lee Humphrey and Brandon Powell were the only basketball players not in attendance. Humphrey is playing basketball in Greece and Powell -- arrested for purchasing marijuana over the summer -- transferred.

Joakim Noah received the loudest cheers. He also wore the loudest pair of shades to ever block the Gainesville sun. Billy Donovan told the crowd of more than 92,000, "I'm happy to still be in Gainesville."

Five of the basketball team's seniors were drafted by NBA franchises: Noah, Corey Brewer, Taurean Green, Chris Richard and Al Horford.

SEA OF SUPPORT: Gator Nation heeded the call and wore blue today. The Swamp looks like a giant title wave. Urban Meyer asked Florida fans to wear blue T-shirts today.
