Game Preview: N.C. Central (0-2) vs. Florida (2-0); Thoughts from John Wooden; It will get ugly tomorrow in the O'Dome

GAINESVILLE -- If you're hoping to watch a blowout by the Florida basketball team before Saturday's game against Rutgers, then Gator Clause suggests attending Wednesday night's game against North Carolina Central. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

If you live in South Florida (as most people do) I suggest you return to Gator Clause at 7 p.m. Wednesday night because I'll be blogging live from the game. I'll be sitting courtside next to my wonderful friend, Adam Gorney.

Gorney, a staff writer for the best Internet website which covers the Gators, GatorBait.net, told Gator Clause today that his employer, Rivals.com, ranked NC Central as the worst basketball team in Division I-A. For the record, there are 340 teams in Division I-A hoops (and retired UCLA coach John Wooden told me last April that he wished all 340 teams could participate in the NCAA Tournament).

The Wizard of Westwood, by the way, is a huge Billy Donovan fan. Mr. Wooden explained to me last season that Coach D does a remarkable job of getting his teams to play unselfish basketball. Such was the case in 2005 and 2006 and such is the case so far this season. Seven Gators enter Wednesday's contest averaging at least six points per game, including six players with an average over 10 points per game.
